br. Giuseppe Natale Buonomo nacque nel Borgo di Gaeta il 24 dicembre 1825 e morì a Roma l'8 luglio 1890. Fu sepolto nel Cimitero Monumentale di Napoli, nel recinto degli uomini illustri. Fu alienista, medico, docente universitario e politico impegnato sino alla morte. Dal 1871 diresse il manicomio della provincia di Napoli e Re Umberto I gli conferì la medaglia d'oro «per essersi reso in modo eminente benemerito della pubblica salute, durante l'epidemia colerica del 1884». Questa biografia documentata vuole rendere tributo al filantropo e politico illuminato che servì con dedizione e spirito di servizio la sua patria.
