ISBN: 978-960-476-299-6.

The publication an accompanying catalogue of the exhibition of the same name hosted at the Benaki Museum in the spring of 2022 is dedicated to "Medusa" and Maria Dimitriadi the creator and soul of the Art Gallery. The history of the gallery is presented in detail which for about forty years was a point of reference for "artistic Athens" as it did not only host the work of many renowned artists who left their indelible mark in Greece and abroad but also became a nursery for many young artists. The publication through the accompanying texts-analyses of the curator and through the exceptionally rich photographic material offers the reader an apocalyptic panorama of this important story.

IMPORTANT: The shipping cost is an important parameter of this order; it is NOT included in the price and depends on the actual weight and destination; you will have to approve it after the confirmation of the order. Mediterranean Cartographic Stories: Seventeenth - and Eighteenth-century
Athens 2019. Cloth 24 cm 176 pp. ISBN: 978-618-83044-2-0.

Contains papers presented at the 3rd International Conference of the Sylvia Ioannou Foundation Nicosia November 2016. The essays annotate three distinct manuscripts dating to the 17th and 18th centuries from the Foundation's Collection: an atlas from the famous cartographic workshop of Giovanni Battista Cavallini Livorno 1635; a large-scale map of the Mediterranean by an anonymous Ottoman cartographer 17th or 18th century; and an extremely interesting experiential mapping of 18th-century Cyprus. These documents invite us to revisit particular issues of historical cartography of cartographic contacts and knowledge exchange in Constantinople and Tuscany of artistic and aesthetic qualification of geographical space where there was real and/or imagined domination by specific state entities Tuscany Ottoman empire and of people who feel the need to map their travel experiences.
Sylvia Ioannou Foundation paperback

Podlecki, Anthony J
THE LIFE OF THEMISTOCLES A Critical Survey of the Literary and Archaeological Evidence
Dustjacket is protected in mylar. One closed tear along front panel of dustjacket. Edgewear to head of DJ. Back panel has one small piece missing of DJ. ; 250 pages; Themistocles (ca. 525 BC-460 BC) was a leader in the Athenian democracy during the Persian War. Themistocles favored the expansion of the navy to meet the Persian threat and persuaded the Athenians to spend the surplus generated by their silver mines on building new ships - the Athenian navy grew from 70 to 200 ships. Despite the importance of this enigmatic figure in Greek history, our knowledge still largely comes from the ancient accounts of Herodotus, Thucydides, and Plutarch. Podlecki provides the first modern comprehensive assessment of Themistocles, based on literary and archaeological evidence.
