‎De bronstijd (2000-800 v.Chr.) is een sleutelperiode in de prehistorie van Nederland en Europa. ‎De Egyptische obsessie voor het leven na de dood resulteerde gedurende drieduizend jaar geschiedenis in de creatie van duizenden veelsoortige objecten, in het bijzonder lijkkisten en sarcofagen. De oudste exemplaren gaan terug tot de Predynastische Periode, ze ondergingen tal van vormwijzigingen en het gebruik ervan zette zich verder tot aan het begin van de Christelijke jaartelling. De wanden van de lijkkisten en sarcofagen zijn bedekt met afbeeldingen van goden, heilige teksten en mythologische voorstellingen, een voor een hulpmiddelen voor de wedergeboorte van de overledene. Volgens het Egyptische concept over het hiernamaals neemt de dode deel aan de cycli van de zonnegod Re en begeleidt hij diens dagelijkse en nachtelijke omzwervingen en ochtendlijke wedergeboortes. Hij wordt ook geassocieerd met de god Osiris, de eerste Egyptische dode die gemummificeerd werd nadat zijn zussen Isis en Nephthys zijn verspreide lichaamsdelen verzamelden, nadat hij volgens de mythe door zijn broer Seth om het leven gebracht werd. Zijn moeder Noet kan op de bodem van de mummiekisten voorgesteld zijn, met uitgestrekte armen, alsof ze de afgestorvene omhelst, maar ook op de binnenzijde van de lijkkistdeksels, als hemelgodin waarvan het lichaam met sterren overzaaid is en die elke avond de zon inslikt om deze de volgende ochtend opnieuw te baren. Dit boek nodigt u uit de Egyptische opvattingen over het hiernamaals te ontdekken aan dehand van een ruime selectie mummiekisten en sarcofagen uit de Koninklijke Musea voor Kunst en Geschiedenis van Brussel, voor het eerst uitvoerig beschreven en in beeld gebracht.‎

Borghouts. two years later it was published for the first in a book form Leiden Nederlands Instituut voor het Nabije Oosten 2006 and was directly accepted as an authoritative analysis of the magical contents of the funerary papyrus of Gatseshen daughter of the High Priest of Amon Menkheperra. The original dissertation beautifully produced remains extremely rare. This particular copy comes from the library of Prof. Dr. Heerma van Voss 1923-2015 and it includes loosely inserted some correspondence between him and Lucarelli who at that time was still revising her manuscript.
