Les 7 études sont consacrées aux monnaies et villes de Troade, à une figure de la frise du temple de Lagina, aux drachmes du Stéphanéphore à Athènes, aux statères sacrés de Milet, à quelques monnaies dans les inventaires de Délos athéniennes, à la circulation des monnaires d'Histiée et enfin à une étude sur les rapports entre numismatique et épigraphie ("Aptera ou Ariaioi" ?). L'auteur, Louis Robert (1904-1985), historien et archéologue helléniste, était un très grand épigraphiste ainsi qu'un spécialiste reconnu en numismatique grecque. Une grande partie des pièces collectées par Louis Robert lors de ses campagnes archéologiques en Grèce et en Asie Mineure, sont désormais conservées dans un fonds éponyme, à l'Ac&démie des Inscriptions et Belles-Lettres (Paris).
