The fifth volume is hardcover, bound in the original publisher's blue full cloth, crimson morocco lettering-piece to spine, gilt cover. In a very good to fine condition. ~ First edition, entirely in the original state. Published posthumously. The first four volumes, Spruch 213-506, were published a year after Sethe's death. Sethe's original manuscript was transferred to print by an old, now defunct method called "Manuldruck", also known as "Reflex Copying Process". The four volumes were printed by the inventor of this method, the printers' firm Max Ullman of Zwicaku. In 1962 appeared by Augustin Volume V, Spruch 507-582, which is presented here also in the first edition, to be distinguished from the second edition of the entire work which also appeared that year. In that year appeared also the index volume which is not included here. It embodies the publication of the results of Maspero's last season of excavation, in Bawit. "This book is an eloquent tribute to the beautifully-kept and detailed note books of Maspero as well as to the skill and patience of Drioton." (H. W. This is the first volume, complete in itself, in Henne's 4-volume preliminary reports on Edfu. All appeared as different parts of the yearly Rapports préliminaires in consequent years. Most of the photographic plates are printed in collotype, one of the most accurate and attractive methods of photomechanical tonal printing processes. Highly skilled and expensive process, it cannot produce more than a limited number of impressions. George Andrew Reisner (1867-1942) was the first person to make fully systematic excavations in Egypt, exploiting the technique of recorded digging much further than Petrie and earlier archaeologists had done. This attention to every detail and the scrupulous care taken meant that although his reports were much fuller than those of his predecessors, they also required much more time for preparation, resulting in a great part of his work remaining incomplete and unpublished at his death. His publications were of great importance and of monumental proportions, with a detailed study unknown before his time.
