‎The Quest of the Infinite‎

‎About The Book -: The aim of the book is to show that religion is not in essence theological, however useful and necessary theology may be on its scientific side. The surest ground for Faith in Christ and participation in the good news which He brought is neither theology, nor metaphysics, nor science, but simple experience, the experience of each individual; and here the average man is quite at home. The appeal urged in what follows is Simply this give Jesus Christ the opportunity of doing His work in your own heart and life give Him a fair chance, and then judge Him by the results. ‎Kings Of Kashmira : Being A Translation of the Sanskrita Work Rajatarangini of Kahlana Pandita Volume 1st [Hardcover] Volume 1st‎

‎About the Book : The book (in three volumes Bound in one) - Kings of Kashmira being a translation of the Sanskrita works -Raatarangini of Kahlana Pandita, son of Champaka Prabhu, the great minister of Kashmira. In these three volumes, we have the history of Kashmira clearly narrating the reign and activities of kings. These volumes contain accounts of many ancient manners and customs. Writing for a courtly audience, Kahlana often indulges in style which is more artistic than clear and his love alliteration has clouded many an important passage. However, in the absence of any historical records, he must be considered very valuable. He is perhaps the only author in Sanskrita, now known, who attempted to write a sober history. These works will enable the historian to trace the real history of the great people and their peculiar civilization, the story of their national rise and progress from the date of their settlement as shepherd and agricultural tribes on the banks of the Indus, to the founding of powerful independent kingdoms and the wonderful development of religious, literature, art and science all over the continent of India. And if we can succeed in doing this, if we can trace how the Hindu nation achieved its civilization gradually and through successive stages, and if we can further ascertain the general character of the civilization of each stage or epoch, here we will have a list of kings, or of wars in order to complete history of India. About The Author : Jogesh Chandra Dutt (1847–1909) Sanskrit scholar and translator from Sanskrit, justice of the peace and honorary magistrate of Calcutta, brother of Romesh Chunder Dutt.Works-Kings of Kashmira Vol 1 (transcription project), Vol 2 (transcription project),Vol3 (transcription project) The Indian Pilgrim (1877) (transcription project) A few notes on some Sanskrit works (1908).‎

‎Coins Catalogue No.1 Mysore [Hardcover]‎

‎About The Book : It is a catalogue that contains coins found throughout its past in the region of Mysore. The introduction covers a brief history of Mysore, along with the unique coins of each ruler. To Captain R. H. Campbell Tufnell, I am indebted for the pains and trouble which he took in correcting and revising the proof sheets, and for comparing the inscriptions in the text with those on the coins. The frontispiece represents in the centre the obverse of the medal struck in commemoration of the taking of Seringapatam in 1 799, and above and below, the silver medals struck "for services in Mysore" in 1791-2. About The Author : Edgar Thurston, (1855–1935) was the British Superintendent at the Madras Government Museum from 1885 to 1908 who contributed to research studies in the fields of zoology, ethnology and botany of India, and later also published his works at the museum. Thurston was educated in medicine and lectured in anatomy at the Madras Medical College while simultaneously holding a senior position at the museum. His early works were on numismatics and geology, and these were later followed by researches in anthropology and ethnography. He succeeded Frederick S. Mullaly as the Superintendent of Ethnography for the Madras Presidency. Thurston was awarded the Kaisar-i-Hind Medal, first class, on 26 June 1902. He was made C.I.E. in 1909. He retired to England and spent his winters at Penzance where he studied the local plants and regularly hosted a New Year party for the local botanists. He died on 12 October 1935 at Penzance.‎

‎Evolution of Indian Polity [Hardcover]‎

‎About The Book : This book contains the series of lectures delivered by me on the ''Evolution of Indian Polity under the Presidency of the Hon. Dr. Sir Asutosh Mookerjee, President of the Council of the Post-Graduate Studies in Arts at the Calcutta University in the months of March and April 1919. The first staph in the evolution as detailed in the first lecture, is found universal and as such it requires no additional proof. The Institution of Elective Monarchy of Bachelor kings begotten by priests on a family of queens or cows as they are called, is peculiar to India ; and no other nation has as yet been found to have passed through the institution of bachelor kings to hereditary monarchy which forms the third stage in the evolution of Indian polity. About The Author : R. Shama Sastri (B-1868) was born in 1868 in Rudrapatna, a village on the banks of the Kaveri river in what is today the state of Karnataka. His early education started in Rudrapatna. He later went to the Mysore Samskruta Patasala and obtained his Sanskrit Vidwat degree with high honours. In 1889, Madras University awarded him a BA degree. Impressed by his ability in classical Sanskrit, Sir Sheshadri Iyer, the then Dewan of Mysore Province, nurtured and helped Shamasastry, making it possible for him to join the Government Oriental Library in Mysore as librarian. He "had mastered Vedas, Vedanga, classical Sanskrit, Prakrit, English, Kannada, German, French and other languages.‎

‎Cognitive Archaeology from Theory to Practice. The early Cycladic Sanctuary at Keros.‎

‎cm. 17 x 24, 76 pp. con 33 ill. n.t. di cui 24 a colori. English Text. Egeo. Colin Renfrew has been involved in pioneering archeological excavations for almost 50 years, from the first archaeological discoveries on Keros through the most recent digs at Kavos and Dhaskalio. This work has permitted him to create a ritual map of the Cyclades, delineating a network of pilgrimage and ceremonial sites in the period 2500-2000 BC. These discoveries have permitted Professor Renfrew to postulate a revolutionary cognitive interpretation of prehistoric archaeology. The analysis of the discoveries in a project involving numerous young researchers is continuing to contribute significantly to the study of the origins of ritual practices in the Aegean Sea.
