Il volume si concentra sul rapporto di Ernst e Friedrich Georg Jünger con la visualità, offrendone una ricognizione articolata e sfaccettata nelle sue molteplici direttrici interpretative, ma sempre legata all'istanza filosofica che sta alla base del rapporto tra parola e immagine. Oggetto di questi saggi - a loro volta il prodotto di un seminario tenutosi il 13 aprile 2012 presso l'Università degli Studi di Roma Tre - è la ricerca di possibili risposte all'interrogativo circa l'esistenza di una vera e propria visual culture all'interno della produzione letteraria e filosofica dei due fratelli Jünger. Il tema delle immagini appare, infatti, centrale in Ernst Jünger (ma anche nel fratello Friedrich Georg e nella sua percezione del mito), sia nella sua declinazione più latamente concettuale e soggettiva (il tema dell'osservatore, la centralità dello sguardo e della visione e, a livello quasi metodologico, il concetto di "sguardo stereoscopico" - solo per citare alcuni dei temi e motivi che affiorano nella sua opera), che nella sua articolazione più strettamente iconografica o storico-artistica.

br. Mário de Sá-Carneiro (1890-1916) è, assieme a Fernando Pessoa, uno dei massimi esponenti del primo modernismo portoghese. Poeta e scrittore dotato di grande sensibilità letteraria, è autore di una vasta opera in prosa, per quanto concentrata in un periodo di tempo estremamente limitato - quindici racconti e un romanzo breve in venticinque anni di vita ed essenzialmente in quattro di attività letteraria, dal 1912 al 1916 -, che riproduce quasi ossessivamente un unico soggetto: l'artista moderno. Ed è infatti sull'idea di arte e di artista moderno e sulla sua psicologia che Mário de Sá-Carneiro riflette minuziosamente attraverso la narrazione delle sue storie e la creazione dei suoi personaggi, arrivando a formulare spesso considerazioni che assumono l'aspetto di vere e proprie teorie sulla creazione artistica e non di rado le caratteristiche di psicopatografie o cartelle cliniche dell'artista. Raul Vilar, Lourenço Furtado, Luís de Monforte, Ricardo de Loureiro, Petrus Ivanovitch Zagoriansky, Domingos Antena, Inácio de Gouveia. Tutti artisti geniali, sempre egoisti e spesso infantili, che vivono la vita nella e della modernità, cullandosi nella ricerca nervosa e talvolta nevrotica e nel tentativo edonistico di realizzare la loro suprema idea di arte, e che sentono come un obbligo quello di oltrepassare i limiti per poter recuperare il significato essenziale dell'esistenza.

Summary; This book presents the work of Friedrich Karl Gotsch an artist from the second gener-ation of Expressionists who trained at the Dresden School of Fine Arts in the early 1920s. Influenced by Die BrUcke in his approach to form he in fact owed the full flow-ering of his individuality and the release of his creative talent to Kokoschka. Gotsch's art enjoyed a new lease of life after the Second World War reaching the peak of its popularity in the fifties and sixties. Starting in a straightforwardly Expressionist style his work soon became highly individual and instantly recognisable: the energy contrasting primary colours vivid outlines and free brushwork combine to produce particularly powerful spellbinding paintings. This sumptuous book-cum-catalogue includes an introductory essay on Gotsch's art by Marion Leuba curator for the Beaune museums followed by a further illustrated essay by the art historian Chantal Bartolini who highlights the various stages in the artist's development over his long creative life and the cultural milieux and influences which helped forge them. These two contributions are followed by a catalogue of full-page colour plates. Nel mondo sinofono, Zhang Ailing non è soltanto uno straordinario talento letterario, ma un mito sia a livello accademico che popolare, cancellato nella Cina maoista, riscoperto a Taiwan e a Hong Kong negli anni '60 del secolo scorso e tornato prepotentemente ad affascinare il continente dalla metà degli anni '80. brossura La matematica non è un'opinione; al vecchio (e sbagliato) adagio delle maestre Remy de Gourmont avrebbe risposto: ma la critica sì. Opinione non vale capriccio, fu così che un libro come Le Latin Mystique (1892) basato sul riscatto spirituale d'un domicilio ingrato (la Bibliothèque Nationale di Parigi), dove il bibliotecario involontario si trasforma in sontuoso raccoglitore di frutti ammassati per ufficialmente dimenticarli e lo scrittore amico di Huysmans e frequentatore del salotto Mallarmé invera il raptus simbolista e dandystico in apologia del dettaglio perfetto, valse non solo al Gourmont l'esplosione di una fama che numerosi altri libri di vasto successo pubblico avrebbero per oltre un trentennio riconfermato, ma addirittura il primato sulle ricerche degli "addetti ai lavori" della filologia accademica.
