Eine internationale Zeitschrift war eine im Jahre 1948 von Melvin Lasky gegründete deutsche Zeitschrift für Politik und Kultur. Der Monat erschien in Berlin-Dahlem und war antikommunistisch ausgerichtet. Als Herausgeber fungierte Melvin Lasky, später gemeinsam mit Hellmut Jaesrich. Die Zeitschrift erschien beim Office of Military Government for Germany (U.S.) (US-Militärregierung in Deutschland). Ab April 1960 übernahm Lasky eine Zeitschrift in London und von nun an fungierte Fritz René Allemann als Herausgeber. Der Monat sollte den intellektuellen Austausch insbesondere von liberalen, sozialkritischen und linken Intellektuellen - den sogenannten nichtkommunistischen Linken - im Diskussionsrahmen des Kongresses für kulturelle Freiheit herstellen, wobei antiamerikanisch oder kommunistisch denkende Intellektuelle isoliert bzw. in ihrer öffentlichen Wirksamkeit reduziert werden sollten. 1966 wurde aufgedeckt, dass auch Gelder von der CIA über US-amerikanische Stiftungen in die Zeitschrift flossen. 1968 wurde Der Monat an Die Zeit verkauft.‎

Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cientificas series number 20 First edition.<br /><br />The attempt in this book and its title to draw a parallel between the revolt of Cortes against the authority of the Governor Velazquez of Cuba upon whom royal authority to conquer Mexico had been conferred and the uprising of the <i>Comuneros</i> of Castile and the <i>Germania</i>of Valencia in Spain in 1520 against the authority of Charles I and his regent Adrian of Utrecht.<br /><br />Donald E. Worcester 1915-2003 was an American historian who specialized in Southwestern United States and Latin American history. He was president of the Western History Association from 1974-1975. Worcester graduated from Bard College in 1939. He received an M.A. from the University of California Berkeley in 1941. He then served in the US Naval Reserve in World War II. He received a PhD. from Berkeley in 1947. From 1947 until 1963 he was a professor at the University of Florida. He then was a professor at Texas Christian University and history department chair. From 1960 until 1965 he was managing editor of the Hispanic American Historical Review. Worcester's view that history is made of complexities not dualities is seen as foundational for much of the understanding by later scholars of Southwest United States history.<br /><br /><b>Condition:</b><br /><br />Some age darkening to pages spine head chipped Dr Worcester's stamp on front wrapper corners bumped else a very good copy. Prima ristampa del luglio 1972, identica a quella del 10 febbraio dello stesso anno, della prima edizione italiana di «Chicago Conspiracy Trial Testimony», trascrizione della deposizione di Allen Ginsberg durante il processo del 1969 ai leader della protesta contro l’allora presidente degli Stati Uniti Lyndon Johnson e la guerra in Vietnam, avvenuta a Chicago tra il 25 e il 29 ottobre 1968, in occasione della “Convention” del Partito Democratico. L’intento dei dimostranti era quello di tenere un “Festival della vita” al Lincoln Park con incontri, workshop e reading poetici, nonostante la mancata autorizzazione da parte delle autorità cittadine. La pacifica e gioiosa protesta si risolse a quel punto in un brutale attacco da parte della polizia e in centinaia di arresti che culminarono, un anno dopo, nel famoso processo ai “Chicago Seven”, ovvero ai sette attivisti principalmente coinvolti nell’organizzazione della manifestazione. Chiamato a testimoniare a favore degli imputati dalla difesa, Ginsberg offrì un memorabile ritratto di sé, delle ragioni del proprio impegno politico nonché una prova di straordinaria, a tratti persino ingenua, sincerità. O, più semplicemente, una prova di intelligente, consapevole, corrosiva ironia non priva di pietà nei confronti di chi lo stava interrogando e dell’autorità nel suo complesso. Arricchiscono l’opera due interventi della curatrice del volume Fernanda Pivano.‎
