El volumen ofrece los materiales distribuidos en tres grandes apartados: textos teoricos o de interes mas general; investigaciones especificas o de praxis textual; y -una concesion a la especialidad del Grupo de Lovaina- estudios sobre revistas. This volume contains the edited versions of the papers presented at the International Symposium on Literature and Power held at the Faculty of Arts of the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven and the U.F.S.I.A. Centre for Mexican Studies, October 22-24, 1993. The symposium, organized by the Leuven Group, revived the debate on the old but timeless "strange discourse on weapons and letters, by examining the characteristic interferences between recent forms of literature and power. To this confrontation were invited not only young scholars who, through their direct involvement with the scholarly process, brought with them recent insights and innovative points of view, but also European and Latin American professors and specialists whose works and/or institutional occupation have made them privileged witnesses of today's relationships between Literature and Power. Ondanks de nabijheid van de grootstad Brussel behield het opmerkelijk goed zijn landelijk karakter. Eeuwenlang bleef het landgoed ? meestal door vererving in de vrouwelijke lijn ? in het bezit van legistenfamilies. In 1879 kwam het in handen van de familie de Ghellinck d?Elseghem, de huidige eigenaar. Pas in 1928?1933 vond een grondige, maar respectvolle renovatie van het kasteel plaats door architect Paul Saintenoy, in opdracht van burggraaf Amaury Marc de Ghellinck en zijn gezin, de eerste permanente bewoners van het landgoed. Het boek bespreekt de inplanting van het domein in het landschap en vertelt het verhaal van de opeenvolgende families die het kasteel betrokken. Bijzondere aandacht krijgen de analyse van het kasteelgebouw en de renovatie in de jaren 1930, evenals de evolutie van de tuinen. De zakagenda?s van Amaury Marc de Ghellinck zijn een uitgelezen bron gebleken voor de renovatie en het dagelijkse leven op het kasteel in de eerste helft van de twintigste eeuw. One of their first designs, OFFICE 2: Entrance was for a notary in Antwerp. In the early days the duo started a collaboration with photographer Bas Princen to turn off the visual style of the office. In 2005, the agency designed OFFICE 15: Border Crossing to mark the architectural competition "Build the Border Wall". As an alternative idea for a border crossing between the United States of America and Mexico, they draw a garden that is walled with white, nine-meter high walls. Inside the walls are palm trees planted in a grid and pavilions for passport control and administration. The design is awarded the first prize. OFFICE Kersten Geers In 2007 David Van Severen designed the Handelsbeurs bridge on the Kouter in Ghent. The bridge runs over the Ketelvaart and connects the terrace of the Handelsbeurs with the Ketelvest. For this design, the office was awarded the Belgian Architecture Prize in 2009 in the Public Space category. For the 2008 Architecture Biennial in Venice, OFFICE designed the Belgian pavilion. With After the Party (1907-2007) the agency brought an ode to the Belgian pavilion that had turned 100 years ago, but had not had a party. Two years later, OFFICE received the Silver Lion in Venice for the most promising young architects. In 2014, the architectural office was declared the winner of an architectural competition for the new building of the Swiss French-speaking broadcaster Radio T l vision Suisse. The new broadcasting building will be located in the city of Lausanne on the campus of the Technical University and Universit de Lausanne. OFFICE appears in October 2014 on a shortlist of five teams for the design of the new VRT building. In 2015, an episode of the Reyers 2020 Canvas series will be dedicated to the agency and their design. Ultimately, the Robbrecht & Daem architectural firm wins the competition. In 2016, OFFICE was appointed as the curator of the Biennale Interieur in Kortrijk. That year there is an exhibition on the work of OFFICE Kersten Geers David Van Severen from March to May in the Brussels museum BOZAR. This book explores communication practices in German, French, Italian, Tyrolian, and Gorizian chanceries, as well as at diets from the tenth to the sixteenth century. Its chapters examine royal, monastic, princely, and communal chanceries. For the early and high Middle Ages, a close analysis of documents will reconstruct negotiation and communication from within the documents themselves. For the later Middle Ages, focus will turn to the chancery, with the appearance of chancery orders and chancery annotations that provide explicit insight in communication between the chancellors, secretaries, and political authorities (princes or cities). The growing amount and variety of documents issued in the late Middle Ages allows us to retrace conflicts resulting from differing chancery practices as well as attempts to reorganise the chancery into a political instrument for the prince. An artwork can be unfinished in seven ways: it is completed by the audience, it suggests a better world, the artist can't leave it behind, it is a collective process, it reflects modesty, it is too utopian (for the time being), or its value has yet to be discovered. The photographs of ateliers and studios that illustrate this essay, show the places where all these thoughts and con-siderations can originate. Van Gerrewey's philosophical essay is enriched in this issue with a photo section. For this image sec-tion, Katrien Daemers photographed fifteen studios of contemporary artists, leaving the artist absent but allowing the (un)completed work to speak all the more.
