The historical pageant held in 1912 in Philadelphia commemorated the War of 1812 and the 125th anniversary of the framing of the Constitution of the United States. The pageant was presented daily from Oct. 7 through Oct. 12 1912 on the grounds of Belmont Mansion. Includes photographs of people involved in planning the pageant including Mayor Rudolph Blankenburg; "Master of the Dances" Philadelphia resident Albert W. Newman who was a member of the imperial Society Master of Dancing in London and the author of several books on contemporary dances; Charles M. Lefferts "Authority on Military Subjects"; a large group of women sewing costumes in Independence Hall; and other photographs of people preparing for the pageant. Scarce. Dinah Shore Born Fannye Rose Shore 1916 - 1994 Was An American Singer Actress And Television Personality And The Top-Charting Female Vocalist Of The 1940S. She Rose To Prominence As A Recording Artist During The Big Band Era But Achieved Even Greater Success A Decade Later In Television Mainly As Hostess Of A Series Of Variety Programs For Chevrolet. After Failing Singing Auditions For The Bands Of Benny Goodman And Both Jimmy And Tommy Dorsey Shore Struck Out On Her Own To Become The First Singer Of Her Era To Achieve Huge Solo Success. She Had A String Of 80 Charted Popular Hits Spanning 1940-1957 And After Appearing In A Handful Of Feature Films She Went On To A Four-Decade Career In American Television Starring In Her Own Music And Variety Shows From 1951 Through 1963 And Hosting Two Talk Shows In The 1970S. Tv Guide Ranked Her At Number 16 On Their List Of The Top 50 Television Stars Of All Time. The Honeymooners Was An American Television Sitcom Created By And Starring Jackie Gleason Based On A Recurring Comedy Sketch Of The Same Name That Had Been Part Of His Variety Show. The Sketches Originally Aired On The Dumont Network's Variety Series Cavalcade Of Stars Which Gleason Hosted And Subsequently On The Cbs Network's The Jackie Gleason Show1 Which Was Broadcast Live In Front Of A Theater Audience. The Popularity Of The Sketches Led Gleason To Rework The Honeymooners As A Filmed Half-Hour Series Which Debuted October 1 1955 On Cbs In Place Of The Variety Series. It Was Initially A Ratings Success As The #2 Show In The United States During Its First Season Facing Stiff Competition From The Perry Como Show On Nbc.23 The Show Eventually Dropped To #1934 Ending Its Production After Only 39 Episodes Now Referred To As The "Classic 39".
