In 1896, he was elected as a member of the Royal society of Portrait Painters. He exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1893 and held his first one-man exhibition in 1907 at the Leicester Galleries. Auch möchte ich Sie ersuchen mir die gegenwärtige Adresse der Frau Geistinger anzugeben u. mir mitzutheilen in welcher Zeit dieselbe eigentlich nach Nürnberg kommt [...]". - Bei der im Brief erwähnten Person dürfte es sich um die österreichische Sängerin Marie Geistinger handeln, die in den 1880er Jahren in zahlreichen deutschen Städten als Soubrette gastierte. - Nach ersten Auftritten in Olmütz und Nürnberg wurde Philomene Hartl-Mitius 1871 Ensemblemitglied des Münchner Gärtnerplatztheaters, wo sie vor allem bayerische Dialektrollen spielte und sich bald großer Popularität erfreute. Wohl an die Schauspielerin Anna Kratz (1837-1918), bezüglich ihres 40-jährigen Jubiläums am Burgtheater: "Verehrte Landsmännin. | Ich sende Ihnen hier den poetischen Scherz, der sich gelesen wohl kaum so gut macht als in richtiger Stimmung angehört.
