Sa vocation trouve son origine dans l’admiration qu’il porte à ses quatre oncles maternels, ivoiriers, comme leur père, comme tous leurs ancêtres dieppois. Epris de liberté, à dix-huit ans, il entre à l’école des beaux-arts, élève libre dans l’atelier de Jean Boucher. L’enseignement qu’il reçoit est solide, classique. On copie les maîtres anciens pour pénétrer leur vision et leurs techniques. Au Louvre, Moirignot admire surtout Rubens. Il aime par dessus tout Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux, Camille Claudel, Alberto Giacometti, Germaine Richier… Tous les jours il dessine le nu à l’académie de la Grande Chaumière et enseigne la sculpture dans les écoles d’art de la ville de Paris. Aux premiers souffles de notoriété, il prend un plus bel atelier, dans une cour-jardin du XIVe arrondissement ou travaillent des artistes, rue du Saint-Gothard. Il expose dans de nombreuses galeries et salons, et ses sculptures entrent dans les grandes collections nationales et internationales. Les musées d’Alger, de Fontainebleau, d’Issy-les-Moulineaux, de Genève et le Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris… achètent ses œuvres. Les années soixante à quatre-vingt dix sont les plus fertiles. Il décède le 27 juillet 2002.

Although there are indisputably disjunctive uses of or in English it is a mistake to suppose that logical disjunction represents its core meaning. Or is descended from the Anglo-Saxon word meaning second a form which survives in such expressions as "every other day." Its disjunctive uses arise through metalinguistic applications of an intermediate adverbial meaning which is conjunctive rather than disjunctive in character. This study examines the textbook myths that have clouded our understanding of how or and other "logical" vocabulary comes to have something approaching its logical meaning in natural languages.
