Luigi Lodi era intervenuto per difendere l'amico con due articoli a distanza di pochi giorni sul quotidiano "Il Giorno". "Carissimo Gigi, siamo agli sgoccioli. Fra pochi giorni tenterò il colpo finale ... Farò traslocare il Prefetto e dimettere il Consiglio Comunale. ... Tu sei stato la mia fortuna ... continua ad aiutarmi fino alla fine"
