Johann Friedrich Meckel d. A. (1724?1774), Philipp Friedrich Theodor Meckel (1755?1803) und Johann Friedrich Meckel d. J. (1781?1833) haben bis 1830 ein gewaltiges privates Arsenal mit mindestens 12 000 Stucken zusammengetragen. Trocken-, Feucht-, Injektions- und Korrosionspraparate ergeben ein nicht nur seines Umfangs wegen einmaliges Kompendium zur menschlichen Anatomie wie auch zu humanen und tierischen Fehlbildungen. Nachfolger pflegten und erganzten die Schatzkammern. Sie haben es ja schon aus Mutters früherem Brief entnommen; ich sorge weiter nichts, als daß ich jetzt wirklich überglücklich bin, und da nun meiner theuren Mutter Gesundheit auch gänzlich hergestellt ist, mir nichts, nichts mehr zu meinem Glücke mangelt [...]". - Auguste Rudloff kam nach Engagements in Brünn und Prag ans Wiener Hofburgtheater, wo sie ebenso kurz wie mit großem Erfolg zu sehen war. Nach einjähriger Spielzeit folgte sie 1859 ihrem Gatten, dem englischen Statthalter auf Helgoland Francis Henry Fitzhardinge Barkeley Sir Maxse, als Gattin übers Meer und nach Helgoland wo sie noch 1873 - so Wurzbach - "in der That dem deutschen Theater immerfort begeisterte Theilnahme [widmet]" (XXVII, 221).

The great and prolific character actor and comedian appeared in hundreds of films such as "Charley's Aunt" 1915 and "Ruggles of Red Gap" 1916 between the teens and the 1960s. "Good luck always / Sincerely / Charlie Ruggles / to / Donald Burnell -- / 1961" on an irregularly-trimmed roughly rectangular 3" X 4½" slip n.p. Good plus. Tape stain at each corner touching upon several words but not Ruggles' signature. Accompanied by an 8" X 10" glossy black and white photograph of Ruggles a half-length pose showing Ruggles in later life leaning over a bench in workman's duds and apron clutching his glasses. Very good with slight tape stain at each corner. An interesting pair. unknown

August in Wien. Mehrere Wochen zuvor war er aus Karlsbad nach Wien gekommen, wo er sich im Santaorium "Hera" einer Nierenoperation unterzogen hatte, was sich anfangs auch recht gut anlief; wenig später jedoch verschlimmerte sich sein Zustand, eine Herzschwäche und ein allgemeiner Verfall der Kräfte gesellten sich hinzu und binnen weniger Tage verstarb er.
