Hoheit erhalten und lege ich Ihnen das Bild bei, das ich mir aber zurückerbitte. Meiner Ansicht nach wird es sich am besten als Lichtdruck zu Beginn des Heftes ausnehmen. Als Holzschnitt dürfte es gegen die wahrhaft prächtigen Adlerschen [?] Zeichnungen abfallen und das darf durchaus nicht sein. Auf die meisten Zeichnungen kann ich im Text nicht Bezug nehmen, denselben aber um 2 Seiten zurückzudämmen wird schwer sein, da ich mitten im Zuge bin. Die 'Erinnerungen eines alten Meiningers' bringen Ihnen aber namentlich aus der Zeit ehe die Meininger gastirten so viele persönliche Details und kleine humoristische u. a. Schlagzeilen, dass ich glaube, Sie werden selber nichts streichen wollen [...]" (7. 1 S. Folio (223:282 mm). Albumblatt mit gedruckter Bordüre, gedr. Fußzeile "Beitrag zum Selbstschriftenalbum 'Deutschlands Zukunft'" und gedr. Formular für biograph. Daten, aufgezogen auf einen Bogen Pergamentpapier (ca. 330:344 mm). Mit einer kritischen Bemerkung zur menschenunwürdigen Entwicklung der Kriegsmaschinerie im Ersten Weltkrieg: "Freiheit und Einheit, das wird die Losung sein müssen, unter der sich Deutschlands Zukunft gestaltet. Freiheit des Geistes und Einheit in der Politik! Nicht die Anzahl der Maschinengewehre oder Giftgasbomben, auch nicht das Ausmass ihres Bodenbesitzes kann ausschlaggebend sein für die Grösse einer Nation [...]". Geschrieben als Beitrag für die von Friedrich Koslowsky im Berliner Eigenbrödler-Verlag herausgegebene Faksimile-Anthologie "Deutschlands Köpfe der Gegenwart über Deutschlands Zukunft" (1928). Die Sentenz bei Veröffentlichung in Druckschrift wiedergegeben. - Karl Grune leitete in den 1920ern die Dreharbeiten zu zahlreichen Stummfilmen, von denen "Die Straße" als sein Hauptwerk gilt. Die Produktionsfirma UFA hatte ohne Grunes Einverständnis das Ende seines Antikriegsfilms "Am Rande der Welt" geändert, was zu einem Gerichtsverfahren und schließlich zu einem Wechsel Grunes zur "Emelka", der späteren "Bavaria Film", führte. - Mit leichter Rostspur einer Büroklammer. An einen Theaterdirektor: "So lassen wir also mein Gastspiel bis Mitte August; ich bringe vor meinen Sommerferien Repertoire-Vorschläge ein. - Die junge Meindl (21 Jahre alt) hat vor ein Paar Tagen in München die Pompadour im Narciß überraschen[d] schön gespielt. Sie wär wirklich die rechte Schauspielerin für Sie gewesen. Die alte Dahn ist wüthend [...]". - Grunert war seit 1830 an Theatern in Augsburg, Freiburg i. B. Hannover, Hamburg und Stuttgart tätig. Vorwiegend als Darsteller tragischer Charakterrollen eingesetzt, war er zugleich wissenschaftlich versiert und hielt etwa in Tübingen öfters dramatische Vorlesungen, wurde auch mit seiner Abhandlung "Über den Macbeth-Charakter" zum Doktor der Philosophie promoviert. - Die "alte Dahn" ist wohl ident mit Konstanze Le Gay (1814-1894), verehel. Dahn, die die früher als "Wunderkind" aufgetreten und seit 1829 in Hamburg, seit 1834 in München engagiert war; durch Schönheit, Geist und Feuer allerorts beliebt, erzielte sie als jugendlich -tragische und heitere Liebhaberin durchschlagende Erfolge. - Auf Briefpapier mit gepr. Briefkopf.

Wär's gegründet daß Sie das nächste Jahr schon für Brünn gebunden sind, so bät ich, falls Sie überhaupt geneigt wären, mir gleichwohl zu sagen, bis wann Sie alsdann frei wären. Lieber noch wär mir wenn ich erführe, daß Sie bereits im September dieses Jahres disponibel wären. Das Leipziger Theater, ohnehin ein Stadttheater ersten Ranges und durch seine Lage mitten in der Strömung des deutschen Lebens, durch den beabsichtigten Neubau noch größeren Aufschwung nehmen wird, dürfte meiner Frage vielleicht auch Ihrerseits einer besonderen Beachtung werth machen […]". - Auf Briefpapier mit gepr.
