Es diente zur Ausstattung der Versammlungssale und fungierte als Lehrmaterial fur die auszubildenden Studenten. Das vorliegende Buch thematisiert die sogenannten ?morceaux de reception? der Bildhauer vorwiegend im Zeitraum von 1700?1730 ? eine Werkgruppe, die vielschichtige Erkenntnisse uber den kunstlerischen Schaffensprozess und die individuelle Gestaltungsfreiheit, aber auch uber institutionelle Abhangigkeiten prasentiert. Anhand von zahlreichen Beispielen werden Themen wie Sujetwahl, typologische Vorbilder, der Sockel als Buhne der Figur, die Darstellung von Bewegung und Schmerz u. v. m. behandelt.
