Mit einer grossformatigen, farbigen Abbildung u. einer Beilage). --- Andreas Freiherr von Weizsäcker (* 25. Juni 1956 in Essen; ? 13. Juni 2008 in Gauting) war ein deutscher Bildhauer und Hochschullehrer. Andreas von Weizsäcker entstammt der pfälzisch-württembergischen Familie Weizsäcker. Er war der zweite Sohn des ehemaligen deutschen Bundespräsidenten Richard von Weizsäcker und dessen Ehefrau Marianne, geb. von Kretschmann. Er war der der Bruder von Robert K. von Weizsäcker, Beatrice von Weizsäcker und Fritz von Weizsäcker. Im Gegensatz zu vielen anderen der Familie Weizsäcker schlug er zunächst eine nichtakademische Laufbahn ein: Parallel zum Abitur an der Odenwaldschule erlernte er den Beruf des Bau- und Möbelschreiners, in dem er 1976 die Gesellenprüfung ablegte. Während seiner Zeit an der Odenwaldschule wohnte er in der Wohngruppe des Schulleiters Gerold Becker (welcher später die Täterschaft im Missbrauchsskandal an der Odenwaldschule eingestand). Ab 1977 war Andreas von Weizsäcker als Bühnenschreiner beim Westdeutschen Rundfunk in Köln tätig. 1978 engagierte er sich beim Deutschen Entwicklungsdienst in Thailand. Im gleichen Jahr stellte man ihm erstmals eine Krebsdiagnose: Malignes Lymphom. Die anschließende Therapie schien erfolgreich, und so konnte von Weizsäcker schon 1979 ein Studium der Bildhauerei an der Akademie der Bildenden Künste in München aufnehmen, u. a. bei den Professoren Robert Jacobsen, Hubertus von Pilgrim und Eduardo Paolozzi, das er mit einem Diplom abschloss. Es folgte von 1984 bis 1990 eine Assistenzzeit am Lehrstuhl für freie Bildhauerei bei Paolozzi, parallel dazu von 1986 bis 1989 ein Lehrauftrag für Papier und freie Bildhauerei an der Akademie der Bildenden Künste in München. Im Jahr 1988 war er als Stipendiat des Deutschen Akademischen Austauschdienstes u. a. in New York und San Francisco. Es folgten Gastprofessuren an der Internationalen Sommerakademie für Bildende Kunst Salzburg in den Bereichen Skulptur, Papier und Recycling. 2001 erhielt er eine Professur für künstlerische Papierformung an der Akademie der Bildenden Künste in München. 2007 wurde er zum Prorektor der Akademie ernannt, deren Präsidentschaft er 2010 antreten sollte. ‎Sur le célèbre groupe des Niobides, découvert en 1583 dans les jardins de la Villa Palombrana, à Rome, et transféré d'abord à la villa Médicis puis, en 1715, à Florence où on le voit encore au Musée des Offices. Le philologue Friedrich Gottlieb Welcker (1784-1868) enseigna à Göttingen et à Bonn. Pionnier de l'archéologie allemande, défenseur du lien entre philologie et étude des objets matériels, il est aussi surtout connu pour ses opinions très libérales qui lui valurent bien des désagréments politiques. ‎8vo., First Edition, with engraved frontispiece; original plum cloth, upper board with triple frame border enclosing a frieze image all in gilt, backstrip lettered in gilt, bevelled edges, green endpapers, uncut, backstrip moderately faded (but all lettering entirely legible), very neatly rebacked with old backstrip laid down, a very good, clean copy. This copy was purchased by Major General Richard Westmacott KCB on 17 August 1909 from George Sully, bookseller, of Kingston-on-Thames. The original purchase invoice (completed in MS) together with Sully's elaborate trade card and a contemporary newspaper obituary of the author, are loosely inserted. A SPLENDID FAMILY ASSOCIATION COPY OF WESTMACOTT'S SCARCEST WORK.‎
