br. Gli storici dell'arte affermano che l'architettura di piazza San Pietro sia stata progettata per rappresentare "le braccia aperte di Madre Chiesa". Questo è quanto sostenuto da Gian Lorenzo Bernini, l'architetto responsabile del progetto ed è la verità, ma non è tutta la verità. Esiste un livello occulto di questa verità sul quale poggia l'intero grandioso disegno del Bernini. Nel XVI secolo l'Italia, nel bel mezzo del Rinascimento, vide due potenti movimenti al centro della cultura. Il primo, il movimento ermetico, che auspicava il ritorno della "vera religione del mondo", basata su una forma di magia naturale in grado di attirare le potenze celesti inserendole in statue e strutture architettoniche. Il secondo, il movimento eliocentrico lanciato da Copernico, fu una sfida diretta all'interpretazione biblica del Vaticano che propugnava da secoli un sistema geocentrico. Utilizzando documenti dell'epoca e le ultime tesi d'avanguardia, gli autori mostrano che il Tempio del Sole venne costruito proprio a Roma, esattamente davanti alla basilica vaticana di San Pietro e spiegano come il l'architetto del Vaticano, Lorenzo Bernini, progettò Piazza San Pietro per riflettere i principi esoterici del movimento ermetico e del sistema eliocentrico.
