Litografierne er udført af Bærentzen & Co. og senere af Tegner & Kittendorff. Prospekterne med beskyttelsesblade. Enkelte plancher i første bind med mindre marginale brunpletter, ellers rent frisk eksemplar. Til hver planche hører tekstblade fra 4-6 sider. Nogle tekstblade i første bind lidt brunede p.g. af papirkvaliteten.

Sono cambiati gli strumenti di conoscenza, di produzione e di fruizione di questa rappresentazione ampliando gli ambiti di utilizzo, ma il suo fine principale resta lo stesso: fornire informazioni accurate e precise, leggibili e utilizzabili. La produzione cartografica, e oggi quella dei sistemi informativi, necessita in ogni caso di attività preliminari di rilievo dei dati e della loro elaborazione: questa attività è stata storicamente denominata topografia confluendo oggi nell'ampia concezione di geomatica. Il presente volume vuole offrire un quadro complessivo degli strumenti e delle procedure utilizzabili nell'attività topografica: da quelli tradizionali ancora pienamente validi fino ai più innovativi. Sono inoltre brevemente esposti i riferimenti a quegli argomenti, quali la geodesia e la fotogrammetria, che permettono di meglio collocare - concettualmente e operativamente - le attività topografiche e di comprenderne le effettive possibilità.
