<p>This is a terrific condition antique Connecticut print framed and hand-colored. Original 1839 wood engraving by John Warner Barber. The engraving is titled "SOUTH VIEW OF NORWICH CITY CON." and is hand-colored. Wooden frame with a wire securely attached at the back for hanging. A highly attractive piece perfectly suitable for display. John Warner Barber was one of Connecticut's early historians a prolific engraver and author. He is best known for his vivid detailed chronicles of early 19th-century American life. Operating before the era of widespread photography he traveled extensively across the eastern United States to document townscapes landmarks and local history through meticulous wood and steel engravings. The frame measures 16 1/8" wide x 13 1/8" tall. Professionally framed by "Einhorn Galleries" in Connecticut per the label on the back.<br /><br />Condition:<br />The picture is in overall Near Fine condition and would make for an excellent display piece. The engraving is clean with no notable issues found. The frame is in terrific condition with no issues found. A wonderful display piece.</p>
