In 1840 he was appointed professor of political economy at the Collège de France and subsequently became one of the most eminent economists of his time and a great influence on the economic policies of France. He negotiated and successfully concluded the French-English commercial agreement in 1860, followed by similar treaties with other countries. Darülelhan (The House of Melodies) is not a real publishinghouse but a music school established at 10 January 1917, in Istanbul. The principle aim in the establishment of this school was to follow a scientific way in the education and teaching of musical arts, and introduce the old pieces by printing them. Some courses on Turkish and Western music should be given in a course of four years. This school closed in the days of Independence War and reopened by the attempts of Haydar Beg the mayor of Istanbul in 1923. On this publications, it's written usually "Our establishment started to publish the beautiful pieces inhereted from the most famous Turkish composers in order to conserve them. These publications are checked by a scientifically responsible council and found ass quite correct. Up to now, the pieces contining Setarabân, Mâye, Evç-ârâ, Acem Asirân, Müste'ar, Nevâ, Gulizâr, Beyâti, Mâhur, Ferâhfezâ, Ferâhnâk, Nev-eser, Nühüft and Arazbâr Buselik tones, havng the number 72 have already been put on sale for 5 Kurus at the magazine of Samli Iskender in Bayezid Square". First edition. <br /><br />Cervantes de Salazar was one of the principal chroniclers who gathered data on the history and ethnography of Mexico. His most important book <em>Cronica de la Nueva Espana</em> <em>Chronicle of New Spain</em> written at the command of City Council. The manuscript of this work was sent by the author to Spain in 1567 with a request for the post of royal chronicler. This manuscript was uncovered in the early 1900s uncatalogued in the National Library of Madrid as an anonymous manuscript. the first volume was published in 1914 and the second and third in 1936. The <em>Chronicle</em> is fragmentary since the first part which was to include the period up to the conquest of Yucatan either was never written or was lost; and the second part which was to be a history of the conquest breaks off with Columbus sending Villafuerte and Sandoval to the Pacific Ocean. Cervantes de Salazar's sources were the <em>Letters</em> of Cortes; the memoirs of Alonso de Ojeda and Andres de Tapia captains in Cortes' army; the <em>Memoranda</em> of Motilinia; the work of Lopez de Gomara; and the information gathered from others who had taken part in the conquest who were sill living in Mexico City twenty-five years later from whom he received useful information. The <em>Chronicle</em> is valued for its understanding and evaluation of the events it describes.</p><p><br />Zelia Maria Magdalena Nuttall 1857-1933 was an American archaeologist and anthropologist who specialized in pre-Aztec Mexican cultures and pre-Columbian manuscripts. She discovered two forgotten manuscripts of this type in private collections one of them being the Codex Zouche-Nuttall. She decoded the Aztec calendar stone and was one of the first to identify and recognize artefacts dating back to the pre-Aztec period. Nuttall can also be credited for being first to ever challenge the prevailing theory of a California landing for Francis Drake's circumnavigation in spite of much adversity. She boldly proposed that Drake had sailed further North into the Pacific Northwest. Numerous northern coast researchers reexamined the few available records as a result.</p><p>George McClelland Foster Jr born in Sioux Falls South Dakota on October 9 1913 died on May 18 2006 at his home in the hills above the campus of the University of California Berkeley where he served as a professor from 1953 to his retirement in 1979 when he became professor emeritus. His contributions to anthropological theory and practice still challenge us; in more than 300 publications his writings encompass a wide diversity of topics including acculturation long-term fieldwork peasant economies pottery making public health social structure symbolic systems technological change theories of illness and wellness humoral medicine in Latin America and worldview. The quantity quality and long-term value of his scholarly work led to his election to the National Academy of Sciences in 1976. Virtually all of his major publications have been reprinted and/or translated. Il principio delle scoperte di Cesare Serono fu sempre fondato sulla base della medicina biologica, ossia la cura di patologie e stati morbosi con prodotti estratti dallo stesso organo di animali sani, scientificamente trattati. Fondò a Torino la Società per la fabbricazione di prodotti biologici con la ragione sociale Dott. Cesare Serono e C., che nel 1906 divenne Istituto Nazionale Medico Farmacologico Serono. Cevat Kâzim did not suffice with that and again he published what he witnessed during the War of Independence with an epos that he published with the title 'inkilabin siiri' exactly ten years prior to Nazim Hikmet's Epic of Turkish Revolution. This work is exactly an epos of the Turkish Revolution both with the sub-titles which refer to the names of the fronts and live moments of the war described. Again in addition to this poetry book, Cevat Kazim has other poetry books entitled 'Gönül yaslarim', 'Günahlarim' and 'Içli saz'. Paul Hindemith, (1895-1963), was a prolific German composer, violist, violinist, teacher and conductor. In the 1920s, he became a major advocate of the Neue Sachlichkeit (new objectivity) style of music. The Nazis' relationship to Hindemith's music was complicated. Some condemned his music as "degenerate" (largely based on his early, sexually charged operas such as Sancta Susanna). In December 1934, during a speech at the Berlin Sports Palace, Germany's Minister of Propaganda Joseph Goebbels publicly denounced Hindemith as an "atonal noisemaker". The Nazis banned his music in October 1936 and he was subsequently included in the 1938 Entartete Musik (Degenerate Music) exhibition in Düsseldorf.[10] Other officials working in Nazi Germany, though, thought that he might provide Germany with an example of a modern German composer, as, by this time, he was writing music based in tonality, with frequent references to folk music. During the 1930s, he made a visit to Cairo and several to Ankara. He accepted an invitation from the Turkish government to oversee the creation of a music school in Istanbul in 1935, after Goebbels had pressured him to request an indefinite leave of absence from the Berlin Academy. In Turkey, he was the leading figure of a new music pedagogy in the era of president Kemal Atatürk. His deputy was Eduard Zuckmayer, (1896-1977). Hindemith led the reorganization of Turkish music education and the early efforts to establish the Turkish State Opera and Ballet. He did not stay in Turkey so long as many other émigrés, but he greatly influenced Turkish musical life; the Ankara State Conservatory owes much to his efforts. Young Turkish musicians regarded Hindemith as a "real master", and he was appreciated and greatly respected. Cevad Memduh Altar, (1902-1995), is one of the leading intellectuals of the republic period as a Turkish music historian, educator and director.

Very Good Turkish Original typescript letter signed (TLS) 'C. K. Incedayi'. 21x15 cm. In Turkish. 1 p. Letterhead 'TBMM Baskanvekilligi'. Dated March, 3, 1950. Incedayi, besides his important politician identity, was of the respectable person of the history of Turkish dermatology. Incedayi, who graduated from the Faculty of Medicine as a military student and specialized in this field, joined the National War of Independence between the years of 1919-1923, was accepted for the academic staff of Faculty of Medicine during Turkish University Reform in 1933, and worked with Dist. Prof. Dr. Hulusi Behçet, (1889-1948, a prominent Turkish dermatologist, in Dermatology and Syphilis Clinic. After Behçet's death, clinic directoship position was undertaken by Incedayi. Incedayi gave particular importance to laboratory studies in the scientific researches he performed. The foundation of the Dermatology Clinic in Cerrahpasa Faculty of Medicine, which was the second faculty of medicine to be founded under the roof of Istanbul University in 1963, was undertaken by Incedayi. Comprehensive textbooks and original articles he published are important contributions to the field of training and research in dermatology. Incedayi passed away on 21 November 1971. This letter includes his response to 'Halit Fahri' [Ozansoy] who was an important Turkish poet, journalist and author, (1891-1971).

Very Good Arabic Original wrappers. Cr. 8vo. (20 x 14 cm). In Arabic. 63, [1] p., 1 portrait of Atilhan. First edition of this Arabic edition of Turkish "Kendi vesikalarina go?re Masonluk nedir?" [i.e. What is Freemasonry according to their own documents?], written by Atilhan who was a Turkish career officer and antisemitic writer, who was one of the initiators of the 1934 Thrace pogroms. It was published in Iraq, probably Qirkuk (The phone number of the publishing house is written on the cover). During the Turkish War of Independence, Atilhan was appointed as the commander of the Zonguldak-Bartin and Havalisi Fronts. It prevented the spread of the French Army in this region. Upon the victory of the War of Independence, he left the army and went into writing. In his anti-semitic book "Suzy Liberman, Jewish Spy", in 1935 the Turkish Army gave the order to buy 40000 copies and distributed them amongst the officers. The book is banned on September 17, 1936. In 1942, he was arrested by the government of the time on the grounds that the coup was being prepared. He was incarcerated for 11 months before being released by the results of an investigation led by Fevzi Çakmak. During the one-party period of Turkey, Atilhan who was close to the ideas of Turkism contributed writings to two of the most influential magazines of Islamic politics in early Turkey; Sebilürresad and Büyük Dogu. His writings and his political activities affected the growing Islamic movements in Turkey. He was one of the founders of Millî Kalkinma Partisi in 1945 and the Islam Democratic Party in 1951. He was arrested in 1952 along with Necip Fazil Kisakürek in Malatya as responsible for the assassination attempt of Ahmet Emin Yalman. He was detained for 11 months and 15 days. In August 1964 he was invited to the congress of Islamic State in Somalia. He was elected as the Chairman of the executive committee of Congress. This post was his last major mission. Only two copies of this edition can be traced in OCLC: 320298568.
