Teorico del "genius loci", ha riscoperto il valore del fare artigiano in tempi in cui quasi tutti celebravano le "magnifiche sorti progressive" della produzione industriale di serie. La Pietra pone al centro del suo lavoro, non di rado con ironia e persino sarcasmo, il rapporto individuo-ambiente.
