Sale code: PF1126 "DOMINIQUE". Text in English and French. The sale consisted of a single family private collection of French furniture designed by Michel Roux-Spitz (1888- 1957) in the 1930's. The family originally moved into the famous building at 115 Avenue Henri Martin, itself an art deco masterpiece also designed by Michel Roux-Spitz in 1929- 31. The furniture in the collection was originally designed for this residence by the architect and designer, and also Domnique who probably supervised the interior decoration. Several vintage photographs of the original residence. Also color photographs of the second residence the family moved to in 1970. The French designer Patrick Naggar supervised this move and installation. 63 lots in the sale. All illustrated in color. Color photographs of the collection in situ at the second residence. br. Per lungo tempo siamo stati costretti a sospettare che i progetti, i disegni, gli oggetti, le fotografie, le riviste di Ettore Sottsass, oltre a stupire e a innovare, raccontassero una storia. Poi, alla fine della sua lunga vita, Sottsass quella storia ha cominciato a scriverla - partendo da molto lontano. E così, in queste schegge di un'autobiografia pensata come testamento, Sottsass manovra una scatola ottica di cui lui solo sembra conoscere il funzionamento, e la usa per proporre al lettore, in un ordine solo apparentemente capriccioso, le immagini della sua infanzia e della sua giovinezza. La materia di cui il racconto è fatto - i primi anni in Austria, l'arrivo a Torino, le retrovie e il fronte di una guerra a metà orrenda e a metà farsesca, e la Milano del dopoguerra, e l'America, e la nascita del design contemporaneo - basterebbero a giustificarlo. Ma a colpire, e subito a incantare, è il fuori campo con cui Sottsass accompagna ogni rievocazione: una voce ironica, beffarda, sorniona, che sembra sempre condurre a una conclusione già scritta, ma all'ultimo momento scarta verso il paradosso - riuscendo, ogni volta, a sorprendere. Chi tiene fra le mani questo libro, dice Sottsass in una sua breve introduzione al testo, tiene fra le mani (forse) un uomo nudo. La parentesi - e non potrebbe essere altrimenti - autorizza dunque un dubbio: per scioglierlo, non resta che cominciare a leggere.

Profilo biografico dedicato al grafico torinese Danilo Nubioli con alcune correzioni autografe e firma a lapis blu. Curiosamente nel testo e' stato cancellato il nome di Nubioli con inchiostro nero. Di notevole interesse il ricordo dell'incontro dell'architetto con Nubioli nella Torino del primo dopoguerra: '...sbandata, un po' inerte, bianca di calcinacci dei bombardamenti ... in attesa che l'autunno portasse il Salone della meccanica o qualche altra manifestazione dove potersi buttare a tirar su pannelli, a incollare fotografie... E' in questa atmosfera di follia generale, di eccitazione generale di entusiasmo e proiezione verso il futuro che Danilo Nubioli ha iniziato e svolto il suo primo lavoro come personaggio di primo piano...' Nubioli, celebre per aver realizzato il manifesto ufficiale di Italia '61, e' stato uno dei piu' significativi graphic designer italiani. Realizzo' anche campagne pubblicitarie per la Carpano, amaro Cora, Riv, Fiat ecc...
