With attractive photomontage wrappers designed by the graphic artist Paul Urban this German language publication for Soviet youth focused on the promotion of world revolution reflecting the Soviet foreign policy of its day. Written in simple German the magazine was intended for students with at least two years of German instruction. A call to political agitation at the head of the glossary reads: "Comrades students and teachers of the German language - You have already read the first two issues of our journal. The task before you is to use what you have gleaned from the journal for your practical work. Strengthen the international education! Connect with the German workers at your factory collective and state farm in order to share your experience and learn from theirs. 10000 German workers and specialists are currently working in the Soviet Union. It is up to you to agitate among these comrades who came to help us in our Socialist building." The magazine was a continuation of "Die Junge Garde" 1930-1931 which changed its title to "Zwei Welten" starting in 1932.<br /> <br /> The German communist politician and member of KPD Paul Dietrich 1889-1937 edited the journal with Béla Illés 1895-1974 a Hungarian communist writer. The magazine included articles by the German communist elite most of whom were living in Moscow at the time such as Berta Lask Karl Richter and Frieda Rubiner. Many of the German communists working for Moscow such as Paul Dietrich were later repressed while others such as Frieda Rubiner went on to hold positions of power in the GDR with this publication documenting a specific moment in international communism especially the relationship between German and Russian communist parties. <br /> <br /> The photomontage wrappers were designed by the German graphic artist Paul Urban 1901-1937. A graduate of the Munich School of Applied Arts Urban likely studied at the Dessau Bauhaus under Herbert Bayer and Joost Schmidt . In Berlin he was close to John Heartfield and often worked with photomontage among others for Büchergilde Gutenberg and Kiepenhauer. After a period in Amsterdam he moved to the Soviet Union in 1936. He disappeared shortly thereafter possibly at the hands of NKVD. <br /> <br /> As of January 2024 no copies located in North America. unknown

Verso un'architettura ecocentrica
br. Il volume tenta di individuare alcuni tratti comuni in esperienze di progettazione che, dispiegandosi in regioni molto diverse della Terra, in contesti territoriali eterogenei, possono tuttavia ritrovarsi dentro un paradigma che possiamo definire ecocentrico. L'idea di radunare questi diversi apporti sotto la definizione di progettazione ecocentrica estrapolandone alcuni principi comuni intende cogliere la novità di questi approcci progettuali, nonché la promessa di un futuro più umano e di un ruolo davvero centrale dell'architettura nella trasformazione dell'ambiente costruito. L'aggettivo "ecocentrico" sembrerebbe alludere ad un atteggiamento che intenda contrapporsi a quello 'egocentrico' di cui sono accusati i protagonisti dell'architettura internazionale. In realtà l'architettura non può rinunciare a rappresentare le istanze di gruppi sociali ed attori economici che continuano a raffigurare le forze trainanti dell'economia mondiale; al tempo stesso va rilevato come un altro modo di fare architettura stia crescendo d'importanza, acquisendo una diffusione planetaria. Questo secondo modo di intendere la progettazione architettonica - che si può definire ulteriore anziché altro, nel senso che si aggiunge piuttosto che essere alternativo a quello dell'architettura globalizzata - non è tanto legato alla rappresentatività di grandi istituzioni pubbliche o private, quanto agli sforzi di attori e committenti meno incisivi nel panorama dell'economia globale, ma ben più partecipi nelle realtà locali. È grazie al loro essere parte di quanto succede intorno che queste architetture stanno facendo da battistrada ad un'idea della progettazione capace di rimettere al centro le ragioni profonde di un'attività, spesso vista come un fatto tecnico o tutt'al più d'immagine, che appare invece sempre più necessaria a dare una direzione ai bisogni innati di riconoscimento, radicamento e rappresentazione propri delle società umane. L'obiettivo che si intende perseguire in questo testo è quello di individuare alcuni tratti comuni in esperienze di progettazione che, pur dispiegandosi in regioni molto diverse della Terra, in contesti territoriali eterogenei, possono tuttavia ritrovarsi dentro un paradigma che possiamo definire ecocentrico. L'idea di radunare questi diversi apporti estrapolandone alcuni principi comuni vuole portare a cogliere la novità di questi approcci progettuali, nonché a realizzare la promessa che vediamo contenuta in essi di un futuro più umano e di un ruolo veramente centrale dell'architettura nella trasformazione dell'ambiente costruito. This is a near fine hardcover copy with a very good dust jacket with just light edge wear. Completely clean inside and out. Text in GREEK. Illustrated profusely in color with 423 color plates. Index of painters with over 50 different painters. The first section of the book is on the great Greek folk painter Theophilos (4 color plates). Many of these shop signs are from the early twentieth century. 12" high X 10" wide, 399 pages. Large heavy book foreign postage will be extra. This book will be securely wrapped and packed in a sturdy box and shipped with tracking.

"Con il presente lavoro, che, per motivi di spazio, non potrà fornire un'analisi dettagliata dell'intera argenteria sacra della chiesa di Sant'Antonio dei Portoghesi in Roma, mi propongo di avvicinare il pubblico a tale collezione, e di prenderne in esame gli esemplari più interessanti dal punto di vista artistico, con l'auspicio di destare l'interesse di altri specialisti del settore. Inizialmente, dunque, si propone uno sguardo sinottico sul corredo liturgico, con alcune brevi delucidazioni di ordine storico-descrittivo, per poi porre la lente d'ingrandimento sulle opere di maggior rilievo artistico: l'Urna della Reposizione e la muta di sei candelieri e croce d'altare. Un breve spazio sarà quindi dedicato agli oggetti andati perduti, di cui è stato possibile raccogliere informazioni in documenti conservati presso l'Archivio dell'Istituto Portoghese di Sant'Antonio e nell'Archivio di Stato di Roma."
