Un breve spazio sarà quindi dedicato agli oggetti andati perduti, di cui è stato possibile raccogliere informazioni in documenti conservati presso l'Archivio dell'Istituto Portoghese di Sant'Antonio e nell'Archivio di Stato di Roma." Il volume è il catalogo della mostra omonima, allestita a Firenze, presso il Museo Salvatore Ferragamo, dal 20 maggio 2022 al 18 aprile 2023 e dedicata alla memoria di Wanda Miletti Ferragamo che, dal 1960 fino alla sua scomparsa, il 19 ottobre 2018, è stata la guida del brand Salvatore Ferragamo, cercando sempre un equilibrio tra la dimensione lavorativa e la famiglia. Nell'agosto del 1960, alla morte del marito, Wanda decide di non chiudere l'azienda ma anzi di trasformare un laboratorio artigianale di calzature da donna in una casa di moda, dove i figli possano dare continuità a quel solco di innovazione e creatività iniziato dal marito Salvatore. Donna riservata, Wanda Ferragamo non amava parlare di sé e ostentare i successi raggiunti. Per questo motivo è stato deciso di onorarne la memoria con una mostra che esaminasse la complessa realtà femminile in Italia tra gli anni Cinquanta e Sessanta, periodo in cui Wanda ha cambiato la propria vita. Sono gli anni del "miracolo economico", contrassegnati da una profonda trasformazione del Paese, nel quale le donne si affacciano ai diversi settori della società, contribuendo alla costruzione dell'Italia repubblicana. Sono donne alla ricerca di nuovi modelli di esistenza che continua a interrogare il nostro presente, come dimostrano le interviste raccolte in un documentario in mostra. La mostra e il catalogo, attraverso oggetti, abiti, opere d'arte, filmati, fotografie, intendono così tratteggiare le attività e le scelte di donne di età diversa, anche in ambiti lavorativi fino ad allora riservati quasi esclusivamente agli uomini: donne delle professioni, dell'arte, della cultura, della politica e del lavoro che attraverso le loro esperienze personali illuminano la più lunga rivoluzione dell'età contemporanea, quella che ha segnato la fine della separazione dei ruoli sessuali.

The images were then collected and assembled here by acclaimed Dutch photographer Willem van de Poll 1895-1970. The second page contains a b/w map showing the location of the larger camps in "Grossdeutschland" of the time. <br /> <br /> Text in Dutch throughout. <br /> <br /> Binding with light wear along edges. Published shortly after the war the book compiles stark black-and-white photographs that document the horrors experienced across Europe particularly focusing on concentration camps ruined cities and the suffering of civilians. Van de Poll a Dutch photographer and war correspondent used his lens to bear witness to the brutality and aftermath of Nazi occupation. His images are raw unflinching and emotionally charged offering a visual testimony that speaks louder than words. The production serves not only as a historical record but also as a moral reminder of the consequences of hatred authoritarianism and war. Through its haunting imagery the book compels readers to confront the past and recognise the human cost of fascism. It remains a significant contribution to war photography and Holocaust remembrance. "<br /> <br /> Margaret Neilson Armstrong 1867-1944 was a 19th and early 20th-century American book cover designer illustrator and author. She is best known for her book covers influenced by Art Nouveau. She also wrote and illustrated the first comprehensive guide to wildflowers of the American west Field Book of Western Wild Flowers 1915. In later life she wrote two popular biographies and three mystery novels.has been called "the most productive and accomplished American book designer of the 1890s and early 1900s" aBeginning in 1895 she began to leave her monogram on most of her covers; it is a simple 'MA' in upper case with the 'M' slightly overlapping the 'A'. Armstrong's designs were so successful that publishers sometimes hired artists specifically to imitate her look.
