Il Novecento è stato un secolo difficile per l'architettura e per l'urbanistica a Napoli: la guerra, l'esplosione demografica, la speculazione edilizia, l'abusivismo, il conservatorismo, i vincoli, il pessimismo, la mancanza di cultura, l'assenza di iniziative, lo spreco del denaro pubblico hanno procurato un danno enorme al sistema urbano partenopeo. In un periodo così confuso, però, c'è chi ha costruito la propria città cercando di far emergere una nuova immagine, un'altra Napoli, quella dell'architettura e delle idee. Alla base di questo libro vi è la volontà di dare voce agli architetti che hanno pensato la città sorta negli ultimi cinquanta anni, che sono stati al centro del dibattito culturale e che, in qualche misura, sono responsabili della sua trasformazione. Senza i loro edifici Napoli sarebbe certamente molto diversa. Raccogliere assieme le loro esperienze, confrontarle, può servire a capire meglio la città e la sua evoluzione.
