The staff at Phillips together with help from the Gio Ponti Archives were able to stage a recreation of one of Gio Ponti and Piero Fornasetti's most remarkable interior designs. Essays by Brian Kish and Salvatore Licitra, Curator of the Gio Ponti Archives and grandson of Ponti. The Casa Lucano, a large apartment in the elegant Fiera district in the north west of Milan, was completed in 1951. The interiors of this apartment were like stage sets. Designed by Ponti and Piero Fornasetti they included case furniture, wall decorations, screens, and other pieces of decorative art. Works by Gambone, Fausto Melotti and furniture designed by Fornasetti or Ponti and painted by Edwina Altera. There are a number of vintage black & white photographs of the apartment in the 1950's.
