Nee en 1909 en Suisse, elle suit des etudes a la Allgemeine Gewerbeschule de Bale et une formation dans le cabinet de son pere, celebre architecte. En 1931, elle rencontre dans l?agence de Jacques-Emile Ruhlmann, professeur exigeant, le decorateur Maurice Pre, son futur mari. Ils travailleront ensemble quelques annees, realisant entre autres, avec Maxime Old, ?« Le Pied-a-terre d?un archeologue ?» pour l?Exposition de 1937. Separee de Maurice Pre en 1945, Janette Laverriere se libere de la tradition, s?approprie les materiaux nouveaux pour inventer des meubles economiques et ingenieux. Elle entre dans les collections du Mobilier national, realise l?amenagement du palais presidentiel de Niamey et de l?Hopital suisse de Paris, amenage ou construit les maisons d?amis intellectuels, avec une constante recherche de simplicite et une poesie qui se revele particulierement dans les miroirs qu?elle n?a cesse de creer depuis 1936.‎
