Er wurde von H. Cramer und den Zünften organisiert und durchgeführt. Dieser Umzug bildete die Grundlage für die künftige Entwicklung der Sechseläuten-Umzüge. – Ohne Titelblatt. Están representadas las principales escuelas del grabado principalmente europeas destacando la colección de grabado español. Okura Shoten was also the publisher of Seitei's other two books the 3 volume Seitei KachÅ Gafu çœäº­èŠ±é³¥ç”»è­œ of 1890-1 and the KachÅ Gafu 花鳥画譜 of 1903 but this portfolio is by far the rarest of all his works. Prints from the series are seldom seen and much prized complete sets like this one are vanishingly rare. <br /> <br /> After studying under Kikuchi YÅsai èŠæ± å®¹æ–Ž 1788-1878 also known as Kikuchi Takeyasu and Kawahara RyÅhei and established artist Shibata Zeshin 柴田是真 1807-1891 in his youth he traveled to Europe in 1878. One of the early practitioners of the Nihonga 日本画 style of Western-influenced traditional painting he is primarily known for his work with bird and flower subjects which he revolutionized with his delicate and playful ability to capture the reality of color plumage and other details. <br /> <br /> Overall the condition of the covers is quite good and the prints are well printed. The heavy paper on which the prints are mounted are a bit toned but the prints themselves are quite good and clean with wonderful colors and impressions. A cornerstone of any Japanese bird and flower collection. Enclosed in a custom clasped cloth box. unknown‎

‎310 x 435 mm, lithographie sur feuille de papier fort non rogné. Épreuve lithographique issue de l'imprimerie d'Aloys Senefelder, gravée par Eugène Forest d'après Palmérus (non-identifié). Elle porte en pied une mention manuscrite autographe signée à l'encre noire : « je certifie l'édition en entière pareille à la présente épreuve. / Paris ce 17 avril 1826 / Senefelder ». Scène paysanne et animalière dans le goût de Paulus Potter, l'estampe représente au premier plan deux vaches et au second plan un couple de paysans. Pour s'extraire de la misère, le comédien munichois Aloys Senefelder envisage d'imprimer et de vendre ses propres oeuvres dramatiques. Les fonds manquent toutefois pour acquérir presse, caractères et papiers : déterminé à mettre au point un procédé plus économique, Senefelder développe en 1796 une sorte de proto-lithographie permettant de monter une pierre en relief par un procédé chimique. Le compositeur Franz Gleissner est aussitôt séduit par ses essais sur partitions : ils s'associent pour fonder une maison d'impression d'oeuvres musicales. Ce procédé proto-lithographique, peu coûteux, demande toutefois le concours d'ouvriers spécialisés traçant le motif à l'envers directement sur la pierre. Senefelder ne tarde pas à le perfectionner : dès 1798, il découvre l'autographie permettant de transférer un dessin sur la pierre -- et en conséquence la lithographie « chimique » que nous connaissons aujourd'hui. Si l'invention est un succès, Senefelder souffre de la concurrence de ses anciens ouvriers, élèves et associés. Il tente de s'établir à Vienne et à Munich puis, en 1818, se tourne vers Paris, où seuls Godefroi Englemann et le comte de Lasteyrie l'avaient précédé. De nouvelles difficultés l'attendent cependant : il met plus d'un an à obtenir son brevet, et sa « papyrographie » , nouveau procédé utilisant le carton-pierre, ne rencontre aucun succès. Déçu, Senefelder regagne Munich en 1824, laissant son neveu et élève Édouard Knecht aux commandes de l'imprimerie. Ce-dernier témoigne : « Senefelder n'était pas l'homme qu'il fallait pour diriger un établissement. Le travail de l'atelier, les études et les recherches poussées jusqu'à un certain point, étaient de son ressort ; mais le développement et la perfection de l'art, et surtout la direction des ouvriers, étaient au-dessus de ses forces. Tout était en désordre dans un atelier sous sa direction : il ne savait ni gouverner ni compter, et personne n'était si naïvement étonné que cet homme si distingué sous d'autres rapports, lorsqu'on lui démontrait, à la fin du mois, qu'il avait plus dépensé qu'il n'avait eu de gain. » (Charles Lorilleux. Bien que l'imprimerie demeure au nom de Senefelder, détenteur du brevet, les sources biographiques supposent qu'il n'y joue plus aucun rôle à compter de son départ pour Munich. La présente épreuve démontre cependant sa participation au moins occasionnelle aux activités éditoriales. Une lithographie conservée au Musée départemental du château de Sceaux porte par ailleurs la même mention manuscrite, celle-là datée du 11 août 1828. Malgré nos recherches, nous n'avons trouvé aucun exemplaire de cette lithographie au catalogue des collections publiques. Quelques pâles rousseurs et taches.‎
