Paris: Edward W. Titus 1928. First Edition. Hardcover. Octavo 6 49 7 pages plus 5 illustrated plates. In Very Good minus condition. In brown cloth binding with red lettering on paper labels to front board and spine. Boards are moderately soiled most heavily on spine with faint stains on boards near the joints. Rubbing along board edges fore corners lightly bumped. Label on spine is heavily sunned and scuffed. Text block shows light wear and foxing to deckled edges. Also foxed sparsely throughout most prominently on endpapers. Stain in gutter of first free endpaper. Small pencil annotation on page 7 indicates a typo in the text. SH consignment. Shelved in Room A. Bill Bird was an American publisher best known for running the Three Mountains Press a small press that published many prominent modernists in the 1920s including Ezra Pound Ernest Hemingway James Joyce William Carlos Williams and Robert McAlmon with Ezra Pound serving as editor. Over a period of two and a half years he published 9 works. Concurrently he founded Consolidated Press Service and worked there as a journalist from 1920-1933 when he joined the New York Sun as chief foreign correspondent. Forced to flee France after the Nazi invasion he wrote articles warning of war. After WWII he moved to Tangier and was the editor of the Tangier Gazette.<br /> <br> <br /> <br> <br /> This title was among Bird's private collection having been carted by him from Paris where he stayed until 1940 to Spain Tangiers and finally back to Paris and by descent to the US. 1403491. Lithograph has a long crease that appears to be a defect caused DURING THE PRINTING PROCESS. Otherwise, this extremely rare book and original lithograph are in VERY GOOD CONDITION.

Paris chez Perrotin & Chez les Marchands de Nouveautés, Paris 1847-1866 Œuvres composites reliés en 6 volumes, grands in 8 en demi maroquin rouge à coins, à longs grains, dos à cinq nerfs ornés au petits fers, filet doré bordant les plats, portant en tomaisons « Chansons I » ; « Chanson II », « Dernière chanson », « Ma biographie », « Musique des chansons », et « Supplément ». Et en queue les dates de 1857 pour les deux premiers volumes 1860 pour les deux suivants, 1865 et 1866 pour les deux derniers. Mors de deux volumes restaurés. Reliure signée de Champs.Exemplaire unique, enrichi 28 dessins et lavis, (19 lavis et 9 dessins) les figures en double états avant la lettre sur chine monté et avec la lettre sur blanc, truffé de deux lettre autographes de Béranger et d’un manuscrit original. Couvertures et dos conservés, truffé de prospectus sur papiers de couleurs, couvertures de livraisons. Les dessins et lavis au sépia et encre de chine sont signés de Penguilly (2), Charles Jacque (2), Lemud (15 dont celui du frontispice), les dessins à la mine de plomb sont par Messieurs Tony Johannot (7)

7 Kupferstiche je 37,5 x 25,5 cm (Leopolds Portrait zusätzlich signiert "A. Bloem delin."). Folge von sieben Kupferstichen von Habsburgerportraits: Maximilian II., Ferdinand I., Matthias, Ferdinand II., Rudolf II., Ferdinand III. und Leopold I. (die letzteren beiden mit stärkeren Wurmgängen, sonst wohlerhalten und in guten, kräftigen Abzügen). Der Nürnberger Zeichner, Stecher, Radierer und Kunsthändler J. A. Böner (1647-1720) ist vor allem für seine historisch interessanten, meist kleinformatigen Darstellungen von Stadtansichten und Trachten aus Nürnberg, Fürth und Umgebung bekannt.
