This enormous volume provides the first exhaustive catalog of the furniture and interior accessories of Domenico Ico Parisi (1916-86). A key protagonist of postwar Italian design alongside his friend Gio Ponti, Parisi defined himself as a renaissance artist interested in all forms of expression, and traversed the realms of architecture, industrial design, painting and photography. Parisi's furniture (realized primarily in wood and metal) and his interior designs are surveyed in their entirety, from his early collaborations with Cantu artisans in the 1940s through to his industrial production in the 1960s. Images of each item--often both archival and contemporary photographs--are accompanied by a short text explicating its history and production run. Also included is an extensive illustrated chronology of Parisi's career.

More than 200 line drawings and black & white photographs of cupboards beds chairs table long-case clocks wash-stands fires screens. A series of diagrams shows in detail the construction of various pieces of furniture. This is a revised edition of the 1923 original. Book is in good condition. There is some slight discoloration between the front inside cover and end page and the end page and 1/2 title page. Something left between the pages left its ghost. There is also light foxing between the back cover and end page but very mild. Some tanning to the page edges and to the end pages. The dust jacket is good not clipped with mild edge wear and surface rubbing and light scratches impressions left by someone using the book to work on.</p> Spring Books hardcover

This catalog was prepared to accompany an exhibition held at Museum fur Angewandte Kunst in Frankfurt, from October 30, 2009 to January 31, 2010. Andre Charles Boulle (1642- 1732) became the most famous French cabinetmaker and the preeminent artist in the field of marquetry in the late 17th and early 18th centuries. Initially discovered by Jean Baptiste Colbert, Boulle spent his life working for the Sun King, Louis XIV, and other French royals. 121 works in the exhibition, about 75 of these are pieces of furniture or decorative arts. Also drawings and paintings. Almost all these works illustrated in color, a few in black & white. Also a section on 20th century furniture influenced by Boulle.
