JEAN ROYERE : Décorateur à Paris.
Paperback, 175 pages, Texte en Francais, 310 x 235 mm, Tres belle exemplaire !, illustrations en couleur / n/b. ISBN 9782909283470. The French designer turned his playful creations into a serious business, winning admirers who have ranged from Middle Eastern royalty to Kanye West and Jennifer Aniston. Illustrated with works offered at Christie's In 1947, Jean Royère (1902-1981) designed a sofa that embodied both his own emerging style and the joie de vivre of the post-war period ? an elegantly rounded beast in soft white velvet that came to be known as the Ours polaire (Polar Bear). The sofa and the archairs that went with it have since become collector's items: in 2017, a cream sofa sold at Christie's for 439,500; a pair of pale-gold armchairs (below) for almost double that.

JEKYLL, Gertrude; HUSSEY, Christopher
Garden Ornament
London: Country Life 1927. Second Edition revised. Hardcover. Very good /good. Large folio 41cm. Bound in publisher's green buckram with a bright green polished cloth to spine with gilt lettering. Appears to be a variant possibly later binding as opposed to the gilt decorated green buckram binding seen on other copies of this issue. In the unclipped dust jacket frayed to spine ends and with small nibbles to tips a closed tear to rear panel now reinforced with archival tape to verso and further small nicks and some soiling mottling. Still a presentable example of the scarce jacket. x 438. Illustrated throughout with b&w plates as well as architectural drawings the book serves as a visual guide to best practice in each section with only a brief one or two page introduction. Some faint mottling to the buckram of the covers but overall a very sound tight copy all the pages clean and bright. The second edition was extensively revised. Weight: 3.9kg. Will require additional postal charges to overseas destinations. Country Life hardcover

houtenbekisting, softcover, 238 p, ills colour, 16 x 19 cm, pb, Dutch. ISBN 9789082361902. Self-taught Frisian furniture designer Luitzen Zandbergen creates a range of interior objects and lighting designs inspired by the art and graphics found on wooden fruit crates, and even uses material from the crates in his designs. The colourful illustrations are incorporated in things as diverse as room screens, boxes, drawers, cabinets, and wall panels. John Andrews
British Antique Furniture : Price Guide & Reasons for Values
Hardcover, 392 pages, English, 280 x 225 mm, cover not in good condition, however the book itself is, illustrations in colour and b/w, . ISBN 9781851490905. For the past thirty years this book has, in its various editions, outsold all others on British antique furniture simply because it is unique in explaining what to look for when assessing the value of individual pieces. In this, the fourth edition, additional colour plates have been added to illustrate the huge financial importance of patination and colour -- something which has never before been explained and illustrated but which has become increasingly important in recent years. This classic guide consists of some 1,200 photographs of furniture found in shops and auction rooms throughout the country with the author's down-to-earth comments on important features which affect individual prices. The reader will come to understand the rules and prejudices which apply while the eye will become aware of gradations of quality. He will come instinctively to assess the workmanship and how all this affects the final price tag. This is, above all, a reference book for the practising collector and dealer, a work from which the memory may be refreshed and points checked. Each item is clearly referenced. This enables the annual price revision list to be compiled with a ready cross-reference. The list is available in January/February each year on a private subscription basis and details are contained within the book. This new edition contains both Sterling and US Dollar prices.
