A 2 page preface and a short index to the subjects of the plates, and then 110 plates of careful drawings of not only old oak furniture, but also architectural woodwork, plasterwork, metalwork and glazing. Each plate identifies the subject of the drawing, for example:Old Oak Chest at Little Moreton Hall, or Pew framing in aisle west of nave at Astbury Church, Cheshire, and so forth. A good rebacked cloth copy with gilded titles, still bright, and nice bevelled green cloth boards, inside many plates are soiled, mostly in the margins, there are a few handstamps inside the front and back covers. The stamps are from "Schmeig & Kotzian", the famous furniture makers in New York in the first half of the 20th century, so this copy probably came from their studio. Large folio, 15" high X 11" wide. The hardcover portfolio has a printed salmon-colored title label, also the same label on the text booklet. The portfolio boards have a little light fading or discoloration, but still very good. The text booklet is also very good, with almost no wear, just one tiny inscription to the front endpaper of the booklet. The loose plates are also very clean and fresh. Text by Joseph Lux in German.
