Dos à cinq nerfs orné de caissons et de fleurons dorés. Tranches mouchetées. Coins émoussés, deux petits trous de vers. Un petit manque angulaire en page de titre. Cet ouvrage est une réponse aux deux traités de Pierre Nicole et Arnault parus en 1664. Jean Claude (1619-1687), ministre protestant, fut le porte-parole le plus éloquent des Réformés de France jusqu'à la révocation de l'Edit de Nantes. L'eucharistie fut un des points de controverse les plus discutés entre l'église protestante et l'église catholique ; la première déniant la transsubstantation, l'ostie n'étant selon elle qu'un symbole de la figure du Christ, une présence spirituelle. Mention de 7ème édition revue et augmentée à la marge, des passages grecs et latins, qui sont cités ou allegués dans le Texte du livre. Biblio : Barbier IV, 303 ne donne pas cette édition. "Cet écrit du Ministre CLAUDE parut avant la publication des traités auxquels il sert de réponse et motive cette publication d'un ouvrage qui avait paru primitivement comme préface de la première édition de l'OFFICE DU SAINT SACREMENT de MM ARNAULD et NICOLE. La réponse de CLAUDE à cette préface fut ce qui obligea NICOLE à faire imprimer sa préface en corps de livre avec la réfutation de celui de CLAUDE. Bon exemplaire.
