New York and Boston 1854. Paper. Very good. Paper. Two documents: Blue folded paper approx. 10" x 8" is one page long with the three other pages blank. The document reads: "The undersigned members of the N.Y. Young Men's Christian Association and Connected with the Amity St. Baptist Church desirous of testifying their regard for yourself personally and their appreciation of your labors as this Pastor pro. tem. have constituted you a Member of Life of the New York Mens Christian Association by the payment of the requisite sum." This document written in one hand has a list of 20 names and is dated July 8 1854 New York. The second document on white paper is a certificate printed form with hand written names and dates. Rev. Curtis paid money to the American Baptist Missionary Association for a life time membership. This document is dated May 9th 1854 printed in Boston and signed by the treasurer. unknown

Signed Binding by Brentanos New York in late 19th or early 20th century full dark green buckram with scrollwork decoration blindstamped in both boards with gilt borders. 5 raised bands and 6 compartments all with gilt borders. Titles stamped in gold in C2 date in C6. Marbled endpapers and page edges. Square tight and very clean pages with little or no foxing throughout. A spot here or there and a bit on the boarders of only some of the plates but not affecting the plates themselves. Truly a remarkably well-preserved interior for almost 200 years old. Fairly mild edge-wear particularly on the bottom edge and tips. A hint of rubbing to hinges but quite minor. Spine toned to almost black but supple and fresh.
