Hardcover. 12mo - 18 x 12 cm.; xxiii - 351 - 9 pp. Maroon cloth over boards with silver gilt lettering on the spine and blind stamped rules bordering the front and back boards. First published in 1843 this is the third edition New Edition on the title page and contains Newman's letter dated Advent 1871 addressed to Rev. Richard William Church the advertisement from the first edition and the preface for this the third edition. Aside from minor changes in wording of the original text this third edition contains a new sermon #III "Evangelical Sanctity: The Perfection of Natural Virtue" preached on Sunday March 6 1831 that was never included in the original edition. The book shows mild wear to the externals light wear to the corners and spine tips and the gilded lettering is still quite bright. Some spotting on the back best seen in reflected light. Old bookseller's label The Galignani Library of Paris and Nice is on the front paste down end paper. The interior is very clean. the binding is good overall though the end paper hinges show tearing more so in the back one and binding itself is cracked in 3 or 4 places though still very solid. Susan Thorton sort du coma dans l'hôpital d'une petite bourgade de l'Oregon et découvre que le traumatisme l'a rendue amnésique. Grâce aux soins prodigués par le personnel hospitalier et tout particulièrement par le Dr McGee qui lui inspire de tendres sentiments. Susan recouvre en partie ses souvenirs... dont un qu'elle eût préféré ne pas se remémorer : la mort de son ancien petit ami. Jerry sauvagement assassiné treize ans plus tôt à l'intérieur d'une caverne appelée "l'Antre du Tonnerre". Plus angoissant encore voilà qu'elle croise dans cet hôpital les protagonistes de cette tragédie morts depuis longtemps. S'agit-il de simples sosies ? Que ces assassins lui annoncent qu'ils vont la tuer semble le démentir de même que l'apparition du cadavre de Jerry dans sa chambre. Susan est au bord de la folie quand le Dr McGee l'aide à s'enfuir de cet hôpital...Mais que va-t-elle vraiment découvrir sa situation Bon Etat
