Jacques-Bénigne Bossuet, auteur des célèbres Oraisons Funèbres, précepteur du dauphin Louis de France, fut surtout connu pour ses sermons, dont il ne reste d’ailleurs qu’à peu près un tiers aujourd’hui (200 sur environ 600). Ici, il est question de la défense des jansénistes face au quiétisme, doctrine que Bossuet aurait aimé voir condamnée. État moyen.

Pierre de Besse, né en 1567 à Meymond, village de Laroche-près-Feyt, et mort le 11 novembre 1639 à Paris est un prêtre français, prédicateur du roi Louis XIII, passé à la postérité pour ses prêches et ouvrages publiés au début du XVIIème siècle. Fort de cette notoriété, il devient le prédicateur du Prince de Condé puis du roi Louis XIII en 1611. En 1618, il est nommé chanoine de l’Église Saint-Germain-l’Auxerrois. Il meurt en 1639 à Paris et est inhumé devant la chaire de l'Église Saint-Germain-l’Auxerrois. Première édition. Il manque la belle page de titre gravée, mais heureusement la page de titre de la suite des conceptions est conservée dans l'ouvrage.
