Die Ruckreise durfte im Fruhjahr 1302 erfolgt sein. Als Ziel derselben wird die Stadt Genua angegeben. Die nachste zuverlassige biographische Zeit- und Ortsangabe ist der Monat Mai 1303 in Genua am Schluss der Logica nova. Das zeitlich darauffolgende Werk wird im Oktober desselben Jahres in Montpellier datiert. Ramon Lull wird dort, mit Ausnahme eines kurzen Aufenthalts in Genua, bis Juni 1305 bleiben. In dieser Zeit schrieb er mindestens siebzehn Werke. Es sind allesamt Schriften, die sich um die Ars drehen, entweder sind es didaktische Bemuhungen diese darzustellen oder Versuche, ihre Anwendungsmoglichkeiten in anderen Wissenschaften aufzuzeigen. Der grosste Teil der wahrend dieses langen Aufenthaltes in Montpellier entstandenen Werke ist in dieser Serie bereits erschienen: ROL III-IV (A. Soria), ROL IX (A. Madre) und ROL X (L. Sala-Molins). Mit den in diesem Band erscheinenden Werken, vier davon waren bislang unediert, beschliessen wir die Edition der Schriften dieser fruchtbaren Periode der schriftstellerischen Tatigkeit Lulls (mit Ausnahme der Disputatio fidei et intellectus, die Deo volente in ROL XXIII erscheinen wird). Le plus ancien est habituellement appele 'Evangile du Pseudo-Matthieu', selon l'intitule que lui a donne C. Tischendorf. Pour des raisons de commodite, l'appelation conventionnelle de Pseudo-Matthieu a ete conservee, bien que l'attribution de l'ouvrage a l'evangeliste Matthieu soit le fait d'une etape secondaire de la tradition et que le titre primitif ait probablement ete 'Nativite de Marie'. Sa composition est a placer entre le milieu du VIe et la fin du VIIIe siecle et remonte probablement au premier quart du VIIe siecle. Le second ouvrage est un remaniement du Pseudo-Matthieu, intitule Libellus de nativitate sanctae Mariae ou De Navitate Mariae; il a vu le jour probablement apres 868 et certainement avant la debut du XIe siecle. Le present ouvrage commence par une introduction generale, due a Rita Beyers. Elle replace les deux textes edites dans l'evolution de la pensee et de la devotion mariales en Occident. Elle retrace aussi dans les grandes lignes l'influence qu'ils ont exercee sur la production litteraire occidentale jusqu'au milieu du XIIIe siecle, tant en latin que dans les langues vernaculaires. La suite du premier tome, consacre au Pseudo-Matthieu, a pour auteur Jan Gijsel, et le second tome, qui traite du De Nativitate Mariae, est l'oeuvre de Rita Beyers. ISBN 9782503405711.‎ ‎Ce nouveau volume du Corpus Nazianzenum est consacre a l'edition de la version arabe du discours 40 de Gregoire de Nazianze. On sait que Gregoire l'a prononce pour inciter au bapteme a un age precoce. Il est etroitement lie dans la tradition grecque aux discours 38 sur la Theophanie et 39 sur la Fete des Lumieres. L'edition critique de la version arabe de ces deux derniers discours est en cours de preparation par les soins de Madame L.Tuerlinckx, qui a deja edite la version arabe des discours 1, 45 et 44. L'edition critique de la version arabe du discours 40 que nous presentons ici permet d'identifier une proto-version syrienne grace au fait qu'un des textes les plus anciens de la tradition arabe de Gregoire a subsiste pour le discours 40 dans le manuscrit de Milan, Biblioteca Ambrosiana, X 198 sup., date du XIe siecle. Pour la premiere fois dans les editions arabes de Gregoire, on peut relier, au moins pour le discours 40, la version du XIe siecle a celle contenue dans le manuscrit de la Bibliotheque Vaticane Sbath 648 (2), date du XVIIIe siecle, manuscrit venant aussi d'un milieu syrien, mais dont on n'avait jusqu'ici aucun temoin a la fois proche par le texte et tres anterieur par la date. Outre que la tradition arabe formee par les trois familles syro-sinaitique, intermediaire et egyptienne est maintenant bien confirmee, on s'apercoit que la famille syro-sinaitique se divise en sous-groupes qui semblent s'etre developpes parallelement a une date ancienne (XIe, XIIe siecles). La comparaison du texte grec avec le texte arabe montre une fois encore l'extreme complexite des rapports qui existent entre la tradition grecque et les traditions orientales : l'histoire du texte de la version arabe du discours 40 montre que le texte arabe se rattache tant a la famille grecque n qu'aux familles grecques m et m'. Cependant tous les manuscrits arabes remontent bel et bien a un seul archetype du Xe siecle. Sur le plan linguistique, la langue des manuscrits se rattachant a la plus ancienne tradition textuelle est une variete qu'on peut appeler "pre-moyen arabe" encore passablement proche de l'arabe classique, tandis que celle des autres manuscrits (a partir du XIIIe siecle) fait partie d'un moyen arabe deja normalise. La presente edition critique est completee par un index lemmatise qui permet des etudes variees sur le lexique, la morphologie et la syntaxe du moyen arabe chretien et des etudes sur l'evolution du lexique des Arabes chretiens avant la Renaissance litteraire et linguistique du XIXe siecle. In der zu Kleinarmenien (Kilikien) gehorenden strategischen Hafenstadt Ayas verfasste Lull im Januar 1302 eine kleine Lehrfibel mit dem Titel Liber quid debet homo de Deo credere mit dem Zweck, einerseits den Christen die Hauptaussagen des christlichen Glaubens uber Gott darzulegen und andererseits den Nichtchristen den christlichen Gottesbegriff bzw. die spezifischen christlichen Dogmen vor Augen zu fuhren. Diese katechetische Anleitung versucht nicht nur uber die Irrlehren der Sarazenen, Nestorianer und Monophysiten zu unterrichten, sodern auch die falsche Meinung, die viele Nichtchristen von christlichen Glauben haben, zu widerlegen. Schliesslich wird in diesem Band der Liber de mille proverbiis ediert, ein Werk, das Lull im Mittelmeer auf der Heimreise nach Mallorca geschrieben hat. Auf volkstumlicher einfachen Art werden hier Spruche uber die gottlichen und kardinalen Tugende, uber die menschlichen Laster, uber das Reden, uber Armut und Reichtum, uber das angemessene Handeln und die richtige Intention vorgelegt. Er umfasst zunachst eine kurze Notiz zum Liber de militia saeculari (op. 7), von dem keine lateinische Version erhalten ist, obgleich die katalanische Originalfassung unter dem Titel Llibre de l'orde de cavalleria zu den am weitesten verbreiteten Werken Lulls gehort. Im Anschluss bietet der Band die lateinischen Ersteditionen der Opera 8 und 9, die Ramon Lull zwischen 1274 und 1276 verfasst hat: De doctrina puerili (op. 8) und Orationes et contemplationes intellectus (op. 9). Die Doctrina puerilis, die Lull als eine Art "Handbuch des Allgemeinwissens fur Kinder und Jugendliche" geschrieben und seinem Sohn gewidmet hat, bietet in 100 Kapiteln einen enzyklopadischen Uberblick sowohl uber die zentralen Inhalte des christlichen Glaubens als auch uber das Wissen seiner Zeit, wie es sich in den Artes liberales und den universitaren Wissenschaften manifestierte. This volume first introduces into the world of Leo and his polemics against the Manichaeans in Rome and elsewhere; in this context, the doctrines and practices of Spanish Priscillianism are discussed as well. The central part of the book provides the original Latin texts of Leo, the Constitution of Valentinian III concerning the Manichaeans and a pivotal letter of Turibius of Astorga, all accompanied by an English translation and commentary. The following ten Excursuses deal with central tenets of the Manichaean Christian Gnosis as treated by both Leo and in the original documents of the Manichaeans: Mani the Paraclete; the date of Mani's death; the Bema Festival; the Manichaean fasts, astrology, (apocryphal) literature, dualism, Christology, etc. It not only turns out that Leo provides original information on Manichaeism in the Latin West, but also that Mani's world religion exerted a considerable influence on e.g. the Pope's Christology (and thus on the Catholic Christian dogma). Dans la tradition grecque les Discours 38 et 39, dont le sujet est respectivement la Theophanie et la fete des Lumieres, forment un ensemble avec le Discours 40 (Sur le Bapteme) deja edite en syriaque dans le Corpus Nazianzenum. Le Discours 27, le premier des " Discours theologiques " (Or. 27-31) que Gregoire a ecrits a Constantinople vers 380, est dirige contre les disciples du redoutable champion arien que fut Eunome de Cyzique contre lequel Basile eut du reste aussi a lutter. Les autres discours theologiques seront edites dans un prochain volume. La tradition syriaque a conserve deux (Or. 27), voire trois (Or. 38 et 39) versions des discours gregoriens. La premiere version se rattache aux travaux de traduction que l'ecole d'Edesse a entrepris a partir du deuxieme quart du Ve siecle. Elle n'est plus representee que par un manuscrit date des environs de 700. La version moyenne a du etre realisee dans le courant du VIe s. ; elle aussi n'est connue, pour le discours 39, que par un seul manuscrit du VIIe s. La version recente est l'?uvre de Paul d'Edesse. On sait que c'est durant son exil a Chypre qu'il a entrepris cette revision en 623/624. Dans certains manuscrits, on decouvre encore les traces d'une revision ulterieure attribuee a Jacques d'Edesse. Ces trois versions n'ont cependant pas ete realisees independamment l'une de l'autre. Elles sont en effet le fruit d'une continuelle activite de revision : la version moyenne relit le texte de la version ancienne, et Paul d'Edesse beneficie du travail entrepris par ses devanciers. Avec l'edition du Discours 40 (Sur le bapteme) parait le premier volume de l'edition princeps des oeuvres de Gregoire de Nazianze en syriaque, dans le cadre des travaux menes a l'Institut orientaliste de l'Universite catholique de Louvain. L'interet de la traduction syriaque des oeuvres de Gregoire est double. En raison de sa grande fidelite par rapport au grec, la tradition syriaque est un temoin indirect majeur, d'autant plus que ses plus anciens temoins sont anterieurs aux premiers temoins grecs. Le temoignage de la tradition syriaque s'avere en effet plus d'une fois capital dans la reconstitution du texte grec de Gregoire, surtout s'il est confirme par ceux de Rufin et de la version armenienne; en effet une meme lecon attestee aussi largement dans le monde chretien antique a toutes les chances de remonter a l'original gregorien. Malgre cette fidelite fonciere, il est toutefois possible de deceler un processus de revision continue a l'interieur de la tradition syriaque. Il existe en effet trois versions syriaques du meme texte grec (a quelques exceptions pres). Elles ont ete effectuees au Ve s., au VIe s. et en 623/624 par Paul d'Edesse. Le philologue interesse par la langue syriaque, par son developpement et par ses rapports au grec, peut suivre quasiment sur le vif l'evolution du vocabulaire ou des tournures syntaxiques de la langue syriaque. Il dispose ainsi d'un outil precieux pour mieux situer dans le temps la disparition de certains termes ou de certaines tournures, et l'emergence de nouvelles donnees linguistiques.
