Jiddu Krishnamurti
First and Last Freedom
Rider/Ebury Publishing London 2013. Reprint. Softcover. Near Fine/No Dust Jacket. preface by David Skitt; foreword by Aldous Huxley; "The central fact of all Krishnamurti's teachings as Aldous Huxley stresses in his foreword is that for each individual reader the central human problem can be solved in only one way - for and by himself; that it is through self-knowledge not through belief in someone else's symbols that a man comes to the eternal reality in which his being is grounded. What then is it that Krishnamurti offers Not self-discipline; not prayer; not yoga. There is Krishnamurti claims a transcendent spontaneity of life a 'creative Reality' as he calls it which reveals itself as immanent only when the perceiver's mind is in a state of 'alert passivity' of 'choiceless awareness'. We cannot imagine a book more needed at the present time. Krishnamurti is in fact asking for sanity in a world in which most of us are at least mad nor' nor' east. If his voice can penetrate he will do more than most people to save us from spiritual disaster."; a clean copy. Size: 8vo - over 7" - 9" tall. 328 pages. J. Krishnamurti
Beyond Violence
Gollancz London 1983. First Paperback Edition. Paperback. very Good Condition/N/A. It violence is like a stone dropped in a lake: the waves spread and spread at the centre is the 'me'. As long as the 'me' survives in any form very subtly or grossly there must be violence. The theme of violence and Krishnamurti's approach to it are as relevant today as they were when he spoke in 1970 to vast audiences. In discussing the nature of violence Krishnamurti also unravels the other psychological factors such as hurt competition insecurity and fear which are closely related to violence. He shows us a way of looking at the fact of violence directly without condemning suppressing or analysing it and thus going beyond it. In doing so he calls for a fundamental change in the human psyche which is the mark of a truly religious mind." Size: 12mo - over 6" - 7" tall. 175 pages. Binding is tight covers and spine fully intact title faded. Red & green titles spine;. Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: Under 500 grams. Category: Philosophy; Esoteric/Mysticism; Philosophy. J. Krishnamurti
The Wholeness of Life
Gollancz London 1983. First Paperback Edition. Softcover. Very Good Condition/N/A. This volume divided into three parts contains unusual aspects of Krishnamurti's teachings. First a series of lively discussions with a physicist and a psychiatrist at Brockwood Park England; next the substance of his public talks given during 1977 in America and Europe; and lastly the intimate talks with a small international group at Ojai California. Krishnamurti Professor David Bohm and Dr. David Shainberg explore the reasons why mankind has lived for thousands of years in chaos and misery. They bring to light as the chief cause the fragmentation of the mind so deeply conditioned by race and nationality religion and ideology all producing division fear and conflict. In demanding "Why do you go on living as you do in such a hell of discord" Krishnamurti will not allow any evasion of the answer. The material taken from public talks includes that which with varying emphasis it has been Krishnamurti 's passion to demonstrate over many years. He is not concerned with ideas or hypotheses about consciousness but with the direct understanding of the immediate condition of the psyche with the very stuff of one's existence-any theories philosophies and religious beliefs are abstractions denying that immediacy. He points out that the mind is almost unceasingly occupied with thinking so that it has lost touch with its original unconditioned freedom; in the thinking process it is time bound and its space narrowed down in identification; freed from thinking it recovers vast space and time has a different meaning-the mind is in a state that has clarity and knows what love is. The intimate discussions at Ojai are concerned to answer the question: How is it possible to ascertain truth and to know whether Krishnamurti's teachings are true As in scientific enquiry every statement has to be held in danger of being found false or inadequate. One has to abandon all psychological security for the razor's edge path and be alive to the dangers. A remarkable position is reached in the second dialogue: after elucidating the statement "You are the world and the world is you" the word compassion takes on a new meaning. Size: Octavo standard book size. 254 pages. Binding is tight covers and spine fully intact. Brown titles spine. Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: Under 500 grams. Jiddu edited By D. Rajagopal Krishnamurti
Commentaries on Living: Third Series from the Notebooks of Krishnamurti
Gollancz London 1978. Sixth Impression. Hardcover Original Cloth. Near Fine Condition/Very Good Condition. Krishnamurti travelled extensively in Europe India and America and hundreds of men and women met with him and discussed the innumerable personal problems of their varied lives. Krishnamurti noted down these recollected conversations and the Commentaries on Living series was compiled from his notebooks. The range of subjects Krishnamurti deals with is wide and his discussions with individuals are the expressions of intensely emotional experiences not merely philosophical inquiries or the intellectual speculative search for solutions. As always there is one central fact of all Krishnamurti's teaching which these immensely varied conversations bring out: that for each individual the central human problem can be solved in only one way - by and for oneself. Size: Octavo standard book size. 312 pages. Binding is tight covers and spine fully intact. in archive acetate film protection. Dust Jacket un-clipped. Gilt titles spine. brown cloth. J. Krishnamurti
The Krishnamurti Reader
Penguin Arkana London 1990. First Thus. Paperback. Very Good Condition/N/A. edited by Mary Lutyens; "This reader introduces to a wide public one of the most extraordinary and profoundly influential teachers of the twentieth century. Krishnamurti was educated by Annie Besant to be the World Teacher and the salvation of the nations; he rejected this Messianic role announcing that he did not seek disciples but his gentle simple and human example inspired Aldous Huxley and continues to influence seekers after truth in our own day. Krishnamurti did not have a 'philosophy'. Rather he hoped to liberate people from all systems - from the bonds of ideology and received opinion as well as from organized religion from the tyranny of the mind and the tyranny of the body. His message addressed directly to every individual is one of unity and wholeness of total understanding and total love. As the Observer said of one of his books 'For those who wish to listen it will have a value beyond words'." Size: 8vo - over 7" - 9" tall. 251 pages. Light wear to top & bottom of spine. J. Krishnamurti
The Flame of Attention
Mirananda The Hague The Netherlands 1983. First Edition. Softcover. Very Good Condition/N/A. Ideas are the product of knowledge stored in the brain; they arise from a material process & are always limited & subject to the chain of cause & effect; their intelligence is limited by the material process it is not holistic. Krishnamurti affirms that when the true nature of this activity in the psyche is clearly observed & understood the thinking process ceases to be dominant; its function is found to be relative & subordinate serving mans needs only at a functional level. Such understanding is pure intelligence free from causality; the meaningless thought processes of self-evaluation & related psychological fears anxieties insecurity hatred & violence have ceased. Intelligence has no cause. Intelligence is absolute security. Love has no cause. These are statements relevant to a mind that is no longer immersed in thraldom to its thought-imagery. Size: 8vo - over 7" - 9" tall. 112 pages. Binding is tight covers and spine fully intact. White titles spine. Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: Under 250 grams.
