‎Gutes Ex. - Trialogue of the Abrahamic faiths. - Als ich Anfang des Jahres in den Regalen einer arabischen Buchhandlung in London zufällig die Bücher von Prof. Isma'il Raji al Fa-ruqi fand und beim Blättern feststellte, daß es sich bei diesem Autor um einen islamischen Wissenschaftler mit großer Toleranz gegenüber den nicht-islamischen Religionen handelt, freute ich mich, einem kompetenten Autor begegnet zu sein, der sich fürdie Verständigung der drei Weltreligionen, des Judentums, Christentums und des Islams, einsetzte. Für unseren Verlag, der es sich zur Aufgabe gemacht hat, Menschen aus anderen Kulturkreisen gegenüber zu Toleranz aufzurufen, mußten seine Bücher besonders gelegen kommen. Ich korrespondierte mit Prof. Isma'il Raji Faruqi anläßlich der Herausgabe des vorliegenden Buches in deutscher Sprache. Aus seiner Antwort und seinem Entgegenkommen sprach Wohlwollen. Ihm ging es, wie ja auch unserem Verlag, darum, mit der Herausgabe von Büchern dieser Art Brücken zu schlagen zwischen Menschen verschiedener Kulturen und Religionen und gegensätzliche Positionen in unserer von Unrecht und Feindseligkeit geprägten Welt durch den Dialog zu überwinden. Doch der Tod nahm ihn uns weg. Als wir ihm im Mai dieses Jahres die deutsche Übersetzung seines Buches zur Ansicht schickten, erhielten wir von einem seiner Mitarbeiter eine traurige, ja empörende Nachricht: Prof. Isma'il Raji al Faruqi und seine Frau waren am 27. Mai 1986 um 2.30 Uhr in ihrer Wohnung in Philadelphia von unbekannter, feiger Hand ermordet worden. Durch diesen heimtückischen Mord verlor die Menschheit einen zeitgenössischen Streiter für religiöse Toleranz und Verständigung nach dem Vorbild der Schule von Cordoba im Mittelalter. Wir als Verlag verloren mit ihm einen neu gewonnenen Freund. Wir gedenken seiner. ‎About The Book : This book conatained that work emphasized the importance of observing the ritual requirements of Islam, the actions that would lead to salvation, and avoidance of sin. The factor that set the Alchemy apart from other theological works at the time was its mystical emphasis on self-discipline and asceticism. Sa'?da (happiness) is a central concept in Islamic philosophy used to describe the highest aim of human striving. Sa'?da is equated with "ultimate happiness," namely that of the hereafter. It is achieved only after a human being has liberated his/her soul completely from its corporal existence, achieving "active intellect." The teachings were to help man to live a life in accordance with the sacred law, and by doing so gain a deeper understanding of its meaning on the day of Judgement. About The Author : Al-Ghazali (c.?1058 – 19 December 1111). He is considered to be the 5th century's Mujaddid, a renewer of the faith, who, according to the prophetic hadith, appears once every 100 years to restore the faith of the Islamic Community. His works were so highly acclaimed by his contemporaries that al-Ghazali was awarded the honorific title "Proof of Islam" (?ujjat al-Isl?m). Al-Ghazali believed that the Islamic spiritual tradition had become moribund and that the spiritual sciences taught by the first generation of Muslims had been forgotten. This belief led him to write his magnum opus entitled I?y?’ ‘ul?m ad-d?n ("The Revival of the Religious Sciences"). Among his other works, the Tah?fut al-Fal?sifa ("Incoherence of the Philosophers") is a landmark in the history of philosophy, as it advances the critique of Aristotelian science developed later in 14th-century Europe. È Luce su Luce e Dio guida alla sua Luce chi vuole". Mi chiedi quale sia il significato allegorico sotteso alla nicchia, all'ampolla di cristallo, alla lampada, all'olio e all'albero. Vi è anche la tradizione del Profeta che dice: "Dio è celato da settantamila veli di luce e di tenebra, e se li si rimuovesse, il suo Volto sublime brucerebbe tutto ciò che lo raggiungesse con lo sguardo". Con questa domanda ti innalzi ad altitudini vertiginose, alle quali può pervenire soltanto l'occhio acuto dei dotati di vista interiore. Bussi a una porta serrata che si apre solo per i dotti ben fondati nella scienza. Inoltre, non ogni mistero può essere acclarato e svelato, non ogni verità propalata e resa pubblica, perché anzi il petto dei puri è la tomba dei segreti. [...] Siccome sono numerosissimi coloro che si ingannano sulle cose di Dio, è necessario preservare i segreti tenendoli ben celati. Tuttavia vedo che il tuo cuore è stato aperto alla luce e il tuo intimo sottratto alle tenebre dell'ignoranza. Per cui non sarò avaro con te di indicazioni riguardo a quei fugaci balenii, a quei simboli e allusioni che conducono alle verità più sottili e profonde. Tenere all'oscuro chi merita di perseguire la scienza non è meno iniquo che comunicarla a chi ne è indegno».‎
