It is on account of this full resplendence of light which it casts on all religious problems that the Qur'an claims to have brought religion to per-fection: "This day have I perfected for you your religion and completed My favour to you and chosen for you Islam as a religion" 5:3. Six hundred years before this revelation Jesus Christ said: 'I have yet many things to say unto you but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he the Spirit of truth is come he will guide you into all truth" St. John. 16:12 13. Scarce original handbills for the second of two extraordinary Black Family Days organized by the Nation of Islam in 1974 staged at Downing Stadium on Randall's Island New York and featuring music by among others Lionel Hampton Eddie Palmieri Machito Gil Scott-Heron Jimmy Cliff and "modern black music giants" Max Roach Clifford Jordan Archie Shepp and Jackie McLean. Black Family Day Part 2 was held on 15 September and followed Part 1 held in May the latter described as "the largest gathering of African-Americans in the history of Harlem" Clarke p. 189 when an estimated 70000 people attended and Farrakhan's address was recorded and distributed on the Nation of Islam's own label. "In September Scott-Heron joined Eddie Palmieri and Celia Cruz to perform at the Nation of Islam's Black Family Day at Downing Stadium on Randall's Island at the top of the East River below the Triborough Bridge. A stone's throw from where Robert Moses and the Triborough Commission ran their empire Brother Reverend Louis Farrakhan spoke for two hours to around twenty thousand people denouncing the United States as 'the wickedest nation on the face of the earth' under sunny fall skies. Chicago: Muhammad's Temple No.2 1977. First Edition. Tabloid 38.5cm; photo-illustrated newsprint wrappers; 32pp; illus. Mild toning and dustiness to wrappers else Near Fine and unfolded without postal markings. Bilalian News was the successor publication to Elijah Muhammad's long-running Muhammad Speaks the publishing organ of the Nation of Islam. Following his death in 1974 Muhammad's son and successor Warith Dean Muhammad re-named the paper in 1975 in reference to Bilial ibn Rabah a black Ethiopian slave who was the first known African follower of the prophet Muhammad. Published from the Chicago-based Muhammad's Temple of Islam No.2 Bilalian News published a mix of local national and world events radical politics and spirituality with periodic articles on sporting and cultural events of note. The paper was eventually re-named in 1981 becoming World Muslim News and eventually given the name Muslim Journal which is still in circulation today.
