Roadless Area
New York: Alfred A. Knopf 1964. Stated First Edition 8vo size hardcover with dust jacket; 260 creamy deckle edged pages with black and white drawings and decorations by the author From jacket: "To those who love the wilderness the designation "roadless area" on a map is an invitation to explore. Paul and Susan Brooks have often answered the call afoot and by canoe from the wild reaches of the Noatak River in Alaska to Baja California and from the Concord River in Massachusetts to the grand temperate rain forest of Washington's Olympic peninsula. The Brookes traveled to national parks and wilderness areas explored the old canals of England and went on a family safari sketching and photographing only to Kenya Uganda and Tanganyika. The book is a delightfully written evocative gently humorous account of a man and wife in the wilds." Jacket has edgewear tanned spine a tiny chip on top of front cover and minor chipping to bottom of spine and a small spot on front of jacket near spine.
