This was an early effort to encourage tourism to the area. "Outside of Nepal and Tibet, the best view of Mount Everest can be got from the rocks above the Sandakphu Bungalow". Each of the various tours in this area of the Himalayas are described in detail with the sights a tourist will see, including views, natural history, etc. Most were by hiking.‎

‎"Ce texte, précédé d'une très intéressante introduction de Christian Buchet reproduit presque in extenso la relation de voyage publiée à Amsterdam et Leipzig en 1749, qui connut de nombreuses éditions et des traductions en français, allemand, néerlandais et italien. Quelle aventure que cette circumnavigation qui vit disparaître cinq des six navires et périr plus des quatre cinquièmes de l'équipage ! Elle s'intègre dans l'opposition entre une Espagne qui vit alors des productions coloniales et une Angleterre qui souhaite contrecarrer ce régime de l'exclusif déjà battu en brèche par le traité d'Utrecht. L'Angleterre en réclama la révision et pour ce faire déclara la guerre. Le capitaine Anson avait pour mission notamment de s'emparer des principaux établissements espagnols de la côte pacifique de l'Amérique, tenter de soulever les populations locales et ruiner le commerce avec la métropole. Le récit, rédigé sour le contrôle d'Anson, est passionnant. Le passage du cap Horn et l'entrée dans le Pacifique, avec des bateaux en mauvais état, est des plus dramatiques. Le futur amiral sut faire face à toutes les situations, les plus imprévues et les plus dangereuses, en même temps qu'il prenait conscience de l'état d'impréparation de la Navy auquel il s'attaquerait dès son retour. Ouvrant la période des grandes navigations de la deuxième moitié du XVIIIe siècle au travers du Pacifique, dans un esprit scientifique et non de lucre, il prit conscience de géostratégique de certaines positions insulaires – ainsi des Malouines. Bon observateur des populations rencontrées, il influença la pensée des Lumières et nuança les jugements communément admis sur les Chinois."
