In quarto plein veau, dos à cinq nerfs orné de fleurons, pièce de titre en maroquin rouge, tranches mouchetés.Un livre rare et important à plusieurs titres, le pasteur néerlandais Roger (1609-1649), fut l'un des premier européen à s'intéresser non seulement aux moeurs et coutumes des indiens de de la région de Pulicat. Ce regard que l'on pourrait qualifier d'ethnologique détonne à une époque où la certitude et la prééminence de la religion chrétienne interdit toute analyse des cultures exotiques. Les gravures qui illustrent cet ouvrage sont à ce titre intéressantes et spectaculaires.
