‎Summary The diffusion of Christianity along the Silk Road from Iraq and Iran to China in the premodern era has attracted scholarly attention in the West since the discovery of the famous Xian (Nestorian) Monument c. 1623. This initial discovery was dismissed as a Jesuit forgery by Voltaire, Edward Gibbon and many other scholars of the Enlightenment. However, its authenticity has been more than vindicated by the discovery of genuine (Nestorian / Jingjiao) Christian texts in Chinese from Dunhuang and in Syriac, Sogdian and Old Turkish from Turfan (Bulayq) at the beginning of the last century. Besides confirming the existence of a Tang era Chinese Christian church (Jingjiao), additional archaeological and literary evidence has accumulated of a Christian presence in China during the later Song and Yuan periods (Yelikewenjiao). These churches were the subject of a conference of international specialists in Hong Kong in 2015. The current volume of eleven articles has grown out of the papers presented there. ‎Belle vue dessinée par Thomas Sandby et gravée par Paul Sandby, montrant le Windsor Great Park ou Grand Parc de Windsor, au bord du lac de Virginia Water, nommé Virginia River, près de la résidence du Manor Lodge. Des hommes, des femmes et des enfants, réunis sous de grands chênes, attendent de saluer le prince et la princesse de Galles, arrivés dans une calèche, et accueillis par le duc de Cumberland. Sur le lac, on aperçoit un voilier, des petites embarcations et un yacht mandarin appartenant au duc, qui était également appelé "la jonque chinoise". Après avoir dirigé la répression de la rébellion jacobite de 1745–1776, William Augustus, duc de Cumberland, fut nommé Ranger du Grand Parc de Windsor. Il entreprit un programme d'aménagement paysager dans le parc, en créant notamment le grand lac de Virginia Water. Il chargea Thomas Sandby, qui avait travaillé pour lui comme arpenteur en Écosse, de concevoir un ensemble d'estampes du domaine rénové. Les Eight Views in Windsor Great Park ou Huit vues du Grand Parc de Windsor furent publiées une première fois vers 1754-1755, puis en 1772. Les graveurs comprenaient Paul Sandby, François Vivares, Edward Rooker et Pierre-Charles Canot. Natif de Nottingham, Thomas Sandby s'installa à Londres en 1741 pour devenir dessinateur au Board of Ordnance, ou Conseil de l'Artillerie. À ce titre, il accompagna le duc de Cumberland lors de campagnes militaires en Écosse et aux Pays-Bas au milieu des années 1740. En 1746, le duc fut nommé Ranger du Grand Parc de Windsor. Sandby devint son intendant en 1764, puis Ranger adjoint. Il a conçu plusieurs bâtiments dans le parc et a participé au développement du lac de Virginia Water. Il fut un membre fondateur de la Royal Academy en 1768, et devint le premier professeur d'architecture de l'académie. En 1777, il devint architecte des travaux du roi et, en 1780, maître charpentier au bureau des travaux. Bon exemplaire. Quelques taches sombres dans les marges, trace de pliure verticale au milieu de l'estampe.‎

‎Cette version de Guillaume Colletet (1598-1659) parut d'abord en 1634 à l'adresse de Camusat, et avait été réimprimée en 1645. L'original, le poème De Partu Virginis, forme l'oeuvre sans doute la plus connue du littérateur napolitain Jacopo Sannazaro (1458-1530) ; il parut d'abord en 1526 à l'adresse de Naples. Brunet V, 128. Cioranescu, XVII, 20025. Intéressant exemplaire de Ch. Ribault de Langardière (ex-libris manuscrit daté de 1858), passé après 1916 au cardinal Louis-Ernest Dubois (1856-1929), qui fut archevêque de Rouen, avant de monter en 1920 sur le siège de Paris en remplacement du cardinal Amette, avec vignette ex-libris contrecollée sur les premières gardes.
