‎C'est la mère de René Mouchotte qui, après la guerre, vint apporter à un éditeur de petits carnets bruns, crayonnés d'une écriture serrée sans ratures, de rapides croquis et le carnet de vol d'un des plus prestigieux pilotes de la France Libre. En juin 1940, quand d'autres acceptent l'armistice, René Mouchotte s'empare, sur le terrain d'Oran, par un exploit digne de nos anciens corsaires, de l'avion de son colonel, atterrit à Gibraltar et s'engage, l'un des tout premiers, dans la R.A.F. pendant la bataille de Londres. II révèle de si hautes qualités, de telles aptitudes au commandement, que les dirigeants de la chasse britannique en font rapidement un chef d'escadrille. Le Général de Gaulle lui donne, en 1942, à mettre sur pied le groupe Alsace. Il en fut l'animateur prestigieux, "un chef unique pour lequel on se ferait tuer, presque avec plaisir" a dît Clostermann qui débuta sous ses ordres. Emerveillés de ses dons de tacticien de l'air, de son génie de la manoeuvre des unités de chasse, les Britanniques lui confièrent la célèbre escadrille de Biggin Hill qu'il dirigeait au combat dans le ciel de France, quand il fut abattu, à la tête de vingt-quatre de ses pilotes, le 27 août 1943. Désormais les frais d'envoi sont de 6 € seulement pour les livres jusqu'à 1 kg (colissimo suivi), pour la France métropolitaine.‎

Moxon's celebrated 'Monsoon' trilogy is a key work in the history of the war in the air in Burma. It tells the story of a young Hurricane pilot during and after the war. The first volume is autobiographical and provides a first-hand illustrated account of service with 5 Squadron RAF in the Imphal Valley from 1944 onwards. The second and third volumes through based on the author's experiences are closer to fiction; the second giving an action-packed account of the war to the Japanese surrender the third dealing with the reintegration of the survivors into peacetime civilian life.
