Sa robe de mariée, signée par Christian Dior, tout en satin et brocart, pèse vingt kilos. C'est une des plus bouleversantes histoires d'amour du XXe siècle qui commence. Et une des plus cruelles aussi. Car, bien que toujours profondément amoureux, le couple doit se séparer sept ans plus tard : Soraya, stérile, n'a pu donner d'héritier au trône malgré de multiples consultations chez des sommités médicales. Pour elle, c'est l'effondrement. Incapable de sourire désormais, la princesse s'efforce de noyer en vain sa douleur dans le luxe et les mondanités, puis dans le cinéma. Elle s'étourdit aussi par d'incessants voyages. Mais son destin tragique semble plus fort qu'elle : alors qu'elle traque un bonheur qui se dérobe, tous les hommes qu'elle tente d'aimer au fil des ans disparaissent dans des conditions brutales, sinon mystérieuses, en la laissant plus solitaire que jamais et cependant toujours prête à renaître à la vie. This text also offers extensive information on the Safavid Empire" (iranicaonline) - "Giovanni Tommaso Minadoi (1549 - 1615), als Sohn eines Arztes in Rovigo geboren, studierte in Padua [Medizin] und übernahm einen Dienst bei venezianischen Consulaten in der Levante [in Konstantinopel und Syrien] und sammelte während seines dortigen Aufenthaltes Materialien zu seiner Geschichte des türkisch-persischen Krieges von 1578 - 1588" (Hirsch/H. IV, 214). - Der Osmanisch-Safawidische Krieg von 1578 bis 1590 war eine militärische Auseinandersetzung zwischen dem persischen Safawiden-Reich, zunächst unter Mohammed Khodabanda, später unter Abbas I., und dem osmanischen Reich unter Murad III. Die Osmanen konnten Tiflis, Kars und Täbris erobern und Georgien wurde als Vasallenstaat dem Osmanischen Reich eingegliedert. 1590 wurden die osmanischen Eroberungen im Frieden von Konstantinopel bestätigt und Persien versprach die Verfolgung der Sunniten im eigenen Land zu beenden. Der Bericht des Giovanni Tommaso Minadoi reicht zwar nur bis 1588, bis zu diesem Zeitpunkt waren aber die wesentlichen Eroberungen des Osmanen bereits abgeschlossen. Dern Bericht ist eine der wichtigsten zeitgenössischen Quellen eines westlichen Augenzeugens. Interessant und nützlich sind das dem eigentlichen Bericht vorangestellte "Fleissige Verzeychnuß unnd Außlegung aller fremdden, newen Barbarischen Wörtern und Namen, mit vermeldung, wie sie vorzeiten bey dern Alten genennt seyn worden". - Im weißen Rand teils Wurmgänge bzw. Läsuren (ohne Textverlust). Etw. gebräunt und stellenw. etw,. wasserrandig bzw. fleckig. Das letzte Bl. mit alten und neuen hs. Notizen und fachmännisch angerandet.‎

‎Very Good Persian First Edition of this extremely rare bilingual tractate including Prince Reza Khan's thoughts on Anglo-Persian agreement in1919. Mirza Reza Khan also known as Prince Rezâ Arfa', was a diplomat and poet of the late Qajar period who serviced in Constantinople. During his years of service abroad Reza became acquainted with a number of European political leaders. He was reported to entertain Russian sympathies and was certainly instrumental in negotiating the first Russian government loan to Persia, in 1317 / 1900. Nevertheless, he also appears to have supported the Anglo-Persian Agreement of 1919. In 1332 / 1914 he served as minister of justice (wazîr-e 'adlîya) in Tehran for about a year. This agreement in 1919 was a provisional agreement made between the British and the Persian governments which, if ratified, would have granted the British a paramount position of control over the financial and military affairs of Iran. From the days when Napoleon conceived the idea of invading India with the help of Alexander I, the Tsar of Russia, Great Britain contemplated with apprehension the invasion of India by Russia via Persia and Afghanistan. Under the Anglo-Russian Convention of 1907 (q.v.), which divided Persia into rival spheres of influence, southern Persia was assigned to Britain while Russia controlled the northern portion. Later, according to the terms of "The Secret Treaties of Constantinople" of 18 March 1915, Constantinople was promised to Russia, and England was allowed to incorporate within her sphere of influence the neutral zone of Persia. "A number of Mirza Moheb-Ali Khan's treatises on the demarcation of the iranian-Ottoman boundary have previously been published in the 'Iran & Ottoman History Series, NO. 6'. The present volume includes his three other pieces on the topic. The first, entitled 'Layehe' was written in response to the long-serving Ottoman boundary commissioner Derwish Pasha's treatise. The second, entitled 'Lehaghe' is a critical piece written in response to another Ottoman boundary commissioner Khorshid Pasha's Seyhât-nâme-i Hudûd. The third, a short pamphlet entitled 'Taz'eil', is yet another refutation of the claims of Derwish Pasha's treatise on 'The Iranian Border Delimination' (Tahdid-e Hudûd-e Iraniyye) which he published in 1269/1853 in Istanbul. These writings have been compiled in Sha'aban 1292 / September 1875. The author criticizes and refutes Derwish and Khorshid Pasha's claims to contested territories in different ways...".‎
