Meclis-i Mebûsân (The Chamber of Deputies) of the Ottoman Empire was the lower house of the General Assembly, the Ottoman Parliament. Unlike to the upper house, the Senate, the members of the Chamber of Deputies were elected by the general Ottoman populace, although suffrage was limited to males of a certain financial standing, among other restrictions that varied over the Chamber's lifetime. The Second Constitutional Era of the Ottoman Empire began shortly after Abdul Hamid II was forced to restore the constitutional monarchy after the 1908 Young Turk Revolution. The period established many political groups and parties. Ahmet Riza became the first President of the Chamber in 1908. An amendment in 1909 to the original 1876 constitution resulted in the Chamber gaining more true political power at the expense of the non-democratically elected Senate and the Sultan. A series of elections during this period resulted in the gradual ascendance of the Committee of Union and Progress's (CUP) domination in politics. The second largest party Liberal Unionist Party (LU) (Turkish: Hürriyet ve Itilâf) was in fact a coalition of parties led by Prince Sabahaddin. First published in any form of this symbolist poem, is the manifest of the attempt to settle in New Zealand by falling into pessimism, written during Sultan Abdülhamid II's tyranny period between two Constitutionalist regimes in the Imperial Ottoman, by Servet-i Fünûn literary scene leading of Ottoman poet Tevfik Fikret and his friends like Mehmed Rauf, Hüseyin Kadri, Dr. Esad Pasa, Hüseyin Cahit, Süleyman Nesip, Ahmet Hikmet Müftüoglu. In the westernization period, there is an escape especially the Servet-i Fünuncus to New Zealand, Scotland, and Finland. This escape can be seen as both alienation and help-seeking. Historical point of view, sociological research and in-depth analysis personal sufferings of intellectuals who attempted to escape can provide true findings and information, which can light this period, about the dualism of these intellectuals and their attempts to escape. Tevfik Fikret is one of the pioneers who symbolize this escape. Fikret does not leave the homeland, but in much poetry, he attributes a mission of escape and rescue to places in his poem. Places, where this mission is the most intense, are streets, Asiyan, grave, mosque, Istanbul, the parliament, palace, garden, and village. The first utopian texts in Turkish literature were dreams written in an effort to save the declining Ottoman State. In the period of Servet-i Fünûn [i.e. The Wealth of Sciences], which was a time of crisis, some utopias such as the Yesil Yurt [i.e. Green Land]. Fikret decided to go to New Zealand (after Manisa city) with friends from his literary circle. After a while, he changed his mind and began to construct a special house for his family on the Bosphorus, which he called "Asiyan" (meaning close friends). Asiyan was finished in 1906. New Zealand carries all the characteristics of a utopian place in this poem by Tevfik Fikret. (Utopias from the Middle East 13).

Very Good Turkish, Ottoman (1500-1928) Original TLS by Tevfil Ileri addressed to Turkish female poet Halide Nusret Zorlutuna, (1901-1984). 22,5x17 cm. In Turkish (Modern). 1 p. Dated 17/9/1957. A letter including proof of retirement of Halide Nusret. 11 lines. Ahmet Tevfik Ileri was a Turkish civil engineer, civil servant, politician, and government minister. He was born in Hemsin district of Rize Province in 1911. He spent his school years in Istanbul and graduated from Istanbul Technical University in 1933. During his university years, he was elected as the chairman of the Turkish National Students Association (MTTB). In 1933 at the age of 21, he began a career as a supervisor engineer at the General Directorate of Highways in Erzurum, where he worked until 1937. He was then appointed as the local manager of the Public Construction Works in Çanakkale (1937-1942) and Samsun (1942-1946). From 1946 to 1950, Ileri served as the manager of the Highway Authority in Samsun. In 1950, he joined the Democrat Party (DP) and was elected as an MP from Samsun (electoral district). During the DP-government years, he always belonged to the party's top politicians. He served as the Minister of Transportation (22 May 1950 - 11 August 1950), Minister of National Education (13 April - 25 November 1957 and 22 May 1959 - 8 December 1959 as a placeholder), Deputy Prime Minister (25 November 1957 - 19 January 1958) and Minister of Public Works (19 January 1958-27 May 1960). After the 1960 Turkish coup d'état, he was tried and imprisoned. However, he was hospitalized in 1961 and died in Ankara on 31 December the same year. He was buried at Cebeci Asri Cemetery in Ankara.
