First Edition. Karay was born in Istanbul on 15 June 1888. After studying at Galatasaray High School and Istanbul University Faculty of Law, he briefly served in the Ministry of Finance of the Ottoman Empire. During the Second Constitutional Era in 1908 he resigned from his post and published a short-living newspaper. He also wrote in literary periodicals. Being an opponent of the Committee of Union and Progress he was exiled to several cities in Anatolia. After returning to Istanbul he wrote mainly on Anatolian life style. He was a pioneer in Anatolian based literature. He attended the Freedom and Accord Party. During the reign of the Freedom and Accord Party he served as the teacher of Literature in Robert College and then the General Director of Turkish PTT. He opposed the Turkish War of Independence and at the end of the war he escaped to Beirut and Aleppo. In 1938 after the amnesty law he returned to Turkey. He resumed his writing career and wrote a number of novels. He died on 18 July 1965. Ago Pasa'nin hatirati [i. e. Memoirs of Ago Pasha] is a humor book of Karay. Rare.

Istanbulspor is a Turkish football and sports club founded by Kemal Halim Gürgen, (1899-1962) and Istanbul High School students on 4 January 1926, being one of the first sports clubs of the Turkish Republican period. Their greatest success is the Turkish championship title won in 1932. The colours of Istanbulspor are yellow and black, which are the colours of Istanbul High School. Also white is accepted as a third colour, but this is not official. Having represented Turkey in an international competition, Istanbulspor was granted the privilege to use the Turkish flag in its emblem, located on the top left corner. The emblem of Istanbul High School is in the middle. This is the book of Istanbulspor's founding regulations, so it's the first and only edition. Extremely rare booklet on Istanbul football and sports history. Not in Özege.; Not in OCLC.

Safranbolu is a town and district of Karabük Province in the Black Sea region of Turkey. It is about two hundred kilometers north of Ankara and about a hundred kilometers south of the Black Sea coast, or more precisely about 9 kilometers north of the city of Karabük. Former Turkish names of the town were Zalifre and Tarakliborlu and in Greek Saframpolis, ??????????? It was part of Kastamonu Province until 1923 and Zonguldak Province between 1923 and 1995. According to the 2000 census, the population of the district is 47,257, of which 31,697 live in the town of Safranbolu. The district covers an area of 1,000 km2 (386 sq mi), and the town lies at an elevation of 485 m (1,591 ft). The Old Town preserves many old buildings, with 1008 registered historical artifacts. These are: 1 private museum, 25 mosques, 5 tombs, 8 historical fountains, 5 Turkish baths, 3 caravanserais, 1 historical clock tower, 1 sundial and hundreds of houses and mansions. Also there are mounds of ancient settlements, rock tombs and historical bridges. The Old Town is situated in a deep ravine in a fairly dry area in the rain shadow of the mountains. The New Town can be found on the plateau about two kilometers west of the Old Town. The name of the town derives from 'saffron' and the Greek word 'polis' (city), since Safranbolu was a trading place and a center for growing saffron.Today saffron is still alive at the village of Davutobasi which is 22 km east of Safranbolu and probably one of the best quality saffron in the world. Safranbolu was added to the list of UNESCO World Heritage sites in 1994 due to its well-preserved Ottoman era houses and architecture.

These extremely rare and unpublished manuscript notes on 'land law' or 'real property law', were taken by a student between the years of 1942-44 during Mardin's lessons in Istanbul University. Very legible script. Fine manuscript with extra papers inside. Mardin was a Turkish jurist, academician and politician. He was one of the ends of the Ottoman Empire and the firsts of Turkish Republic lawyers. He worked as a lecturer at Istanbul University during his whole life, where he graduated, and became a professor of the Civil Law. He ws born in Shkodra. Extremely rare.

Dated "May, 17, 1921", [Istanbul]. Interesting and fine contents: "Halide Nusret Hanim Efendi'ye: Hanim efendi, Sahsen ben de sizi tanimiyorum. Fakat bir ruh arkadasligimla karsilasmak gibi [mektubunuzun] üstündeki satirlari merak ve zevk ile okudum. Pek hürmet ettigim ve sevdigim bir sahsiyet olan Neziha hanimefendi ile yazdiginiz 'Usûl-i ask'i zevk ile okudum. En çok lisanini ve sözlerindeki muhtâne inceligi tattim. Yalniz vukûnun tertîbinde alistigim bazi noktalar var ki bu hususda kolayca anlasilacagini emin ederim. "Anne Hatun" Darülbedayii Meclissince okunmamistir. His best known novel, Çalikusu ("The Wren", 1922) is about the destiny of a young Turkish female teacher in Anatolia. This work is translated into Persian by Seyyed Borhan Ghandili. His other significant novels include Dudaktan Kalbe ("From The Lips To The Heart") and Yaprak Dökümü ("The Fall Of Leaves"). Many of his novels have been adapted to cinema and television. Because he visited Anatolia with his duty as an inspector, he knew Anatolian people closely. In his works he dealt with life and social problems in Anatolia; Reflects people in the human-environment relationship.

Very Good Turkish, Ottoman (1500-1928) Original illustrated wrappers. Chipped and slight tears on extremities, creasing on papers. Overall a good copy. Folio. (38 x 24 cm). In Ottoman script (Old Turkish with Arabic letters). 8 p., richly illustrated. Extremely rare issue of this early Turkish magazine in Ottoman Turkish, with the photographs of members of the union like Nezihe Muhiddin (1889-1958), and news in the headline on the front cover: "The members of the Women's Union who wants political, legal and political equality for women!", continuing as "Recently, the congress of the women's union came to an end. This congress attracted a lot of attention as it emphasized the need for men and women to be equal. The Women's Union is a strange society made up of men and women. Male members cannot enter the administration. The woman sitting in the middle with her head uncovered is Nezihe Muhittin Hanim. The head, member, and clerk of the society is Nezihe Hanim." This magazine, owned by Zekeriya Sertel and his wife Sabiha Sertel, ran between 1925 and 1929 with 199 issues. This rare issue has the headline of "Women's Union" in the Imperial Ottoman, and then the Turkish Republic. It's one of the rare periodicals which published early Turkish feminist Nezihe Muhiddin's images. Nezihe Muhiddin Tepedelengil (1889-1958) was a Turkish women's rights activist, the pioneer of Turkish feminism, suffragette, journalist, writer, and political leader. In the 20th century Ottoman Empire, Nezihe Muhiddin was a pioneer of the women's movement who fought to ensure the recognition of women's political rights after the declaration of the republican regime. She became one of the leading names of the First Wave Republican feminists. Even before the establishment of the Republican People's Party, Nezihe Muhiddin completed the formation of the Women's People's Party (KHF) in 1923 and became the founder of the first political party in Turkey. She also served as a president of the Women's Union between 1924-1927 and helped the founding process of the journal named "Türk Kadin Yolu" [i.e. Turkish Women's Path].
