The Gallipoli Campaign took place in 1915 and 1916, between Ottoman empire and the Allies; and witnessed the toughest naval and land battles of World War I. The Allied Forces were aiming to capture the Dardanelles and Bosphorus straits, and then push Ottoman Empire out of the war. Whereas Turkish Army was there to defend the straits, and to stay in the war, by any means. Bursali Mehmed Nihad (participated in these battles as captain in the first year and continued as major in the next) presents an important first hand study that recites the Gallipoli Campaign, which caused hundreds thousands of casualties for both sides.

He was an Iraqi Kurdish Sufi, by the name of Shaykh Diya al-Din Khalid al-Shahrazuri, the founder of a branch of the Naqshbandi Sufi order -called Khalidi after him- that has had a profound impact not only on his native Kurdish lands but also on many other regions of the western Islamic world. Mawlana Khalid acquired the nesba Baghdadi through his frequent stays in Baghdad, for it was in the town of Karadag (Qaradagh) in the Shahrizur region, about 5 miles from Sulaymaniyah, that he was born in 1779. His father was a Qadiri Sufi who was popularly known as Pir Mika'il Shesh-angosht, and his mother also came from a celebrated Sufi family in Kurdistan. He was an influential Ottoman mystic, who is believed by his followers to have been capable of time travel (Tayyi Zaman). He was born in the year 1779 in the village of Karadag, near the city of Sulaymaniyyah, in what is now Iraq. He was raised and trained in Sulaymaniyyah, where there were many schools and many mosques and which was considered the primary educational city of his time. His grandfather was Par Mika'il Chis Anchit, which means Mika'il the Saint of the six fingers. His title is `Uthmani because he is a descendant of Sayyidina `Uthman ibn `Affan, the third caliph of Islam. He studied the Qur'an and its explanation and fiqh according to the Shafi`i school. He was famous in poetry. When he was fifteen years of age he took asceticism as his creed, hunger as his horse, wakefulness as his means, seclusion as his friend, and energy as his light.Young Khalid studied with the two great scholars of his time, Shaykh `Abdul Karam al-Barzinji and Shaykh `Abdur Rahim al-Barzinji, and he read with Mullah Muhammad `Ali. He studied the sciences of mathematics, philosophy, and logic as well as the principles of jurisprudence. He studied the works of Ibn Hajar, as-Suyuti, and al-Haythami. He memorized the commentary on Qur'an by Baydawi. He was able to find solutions for even the most difficult questions in jurisprudence. He memorized the Qur'an according to the fourteen different ways of recitation, and became very famous everywhere for this. For many years Mawlana Khalid's interests were focused exclusively on the formal traditions of Islamic learning, and his later, somewhat abrupt, turning to Sufism is highly reminiscent of the patterns in many a classic Sufi biography. He began his studies in Qaradagh, with Qur'an memorization, Shafi fiqh, and elementary logic. He then traveled to other centers of religious study in Kurdistan, concentrating on logic and kalam. Next he came to Baghdad, where he astounded the established ulema with his learning and bested them in debates on many topics. Such was his mastery of the religious sciences that the governor of Baban proposed him a post as modarres, but he modestly refused. However, when Abd al-Karim Barzanki died of the plague in 1799, Mawlana Khalid assumed the responsibility for the madrasa in Sulaymaniyah he had founded. He remained there for about seven years, distinguished as yet only by his great learning and a high degree of asceticism that caused him to shun the company of secular authority. He reached Delhi in about a year (1809). His journey took him through Rey, Tehran, and other provinces of Iran. He then traveled to the city of Herat in Afghanistan, followed by Kandahar, Kabul, and Peshawar... (Source: Wikipedia). It was also in this way that the costume books which they had prepared by local artists to provide more accurate information were born. International Symposium on Börklüce Mustafa: Proceedings. Börklüce Mustafa was one of the principal disciples of Sheikh Bedreddin. He lived around the turn of the 14th/15th centuries, and preached a system that can be compared to modern Communism. Between 1415-1416 he gathered Turkmen peasants, Greek sailors and Jewish merchants on the Karaburun peninsula in order to rebel against high taxes and other injustices. Börklüce Mustafa's life is relatively obscure, and well into the 20th century scarcely covered by scholarship, except in the context of his mentor, Sheikh Bedreddin. The main primary account on his activities is that of the Byzantine historian Doukas, along with a few scattered references in other sources. As a result, not even his name is certain, "Börklüce Mustafa" being but one of the suggested original names for Doukas' Hellenized rendering ?????????? ????????. According to different sources he gathered around 4.000-10.000 people. In the beginning of the rebellion Iskender Pasha tried to crush the revolt, but he couldn't because of the narrow alleys of the Karaburun peninsula. The people of Karaburun managed to crush the army of Iskender Pasa. After this more Turkmen Muslims and Christians joined the rebellion. After the defeat Mehmed sent Timurtas Pashazade Ali Bey with all the troops of the Saruhan province and Aydin to Karaburun. These troops were also defeated by the peasants. The main primary account on his activities is that of the Byzantine historian Doukas, along with a few scattered references in other sources. As a result, not even his name is certain, "Börklüce Mustafa" being but one of the suggested original names for Doukas' Hellenized rendering ?????????? ????????. According to different sources he gathered around 4.000-10.000 people. In the beginning of the rebellion Iskender Pasha tried to crush the revolt, but he couldn't because of the narrow alleys of the Karaburun peninsula. The people of Karaburun managed to crush the army of Iskender Pasa. After this more Turkmen Muslims and Christians joined the rebellion. After the defeat Mehmed sent Timurtas Pashazade Ali Bey with all the troops of the Saruhan province and Aydin to Karaburun. These troops were also defeated by the peasants. This work, which is more of these albums representing various types from among government officials and various sectors of the populace in the Ottoman Empire as well as their clothing whose date an place of production as well as whose artist are known, is being offered to the world of art and science for the first time in the form of this publication.

Scholars have long thought that, following the Muslim Golden Age of the medieval era, the Ottoman Empire grew culturally and technologically isolated, losing interest in innovation and placing the empire on a path toward stagnation and decline. Science among the Ottomans challenges this widely accepted Western image of the nineteenth- and early twentieth-century Ottomans as backward and impoverished. Miri Shefer-Mossensohn contends that Ottoman society and culture created a fertile environment that fostered diverse scientific activity. She demonstrates that the Ottomans excelled in adapting the inventions of others to their own needs and improving them. For example, in 1877, the Ottoman Empire boasted the seventh-longest electric telegraph system in the world; indeed, the Ottomans were among the era's most advanced nations with regard to modern communication infrastructure. To substantiate her claims about science in the empire, Shefer-Mossensohn studies patterns of learning; state involvement in technological activities; and Turkish- and Arabic-speaking Ottomans who produced, consumed, and altered scientific practices. The results reveal Ottoman participation in science to have been a dynamic force that helped sustain the six-hundred-year empire.

Africa has been a land-based geography where European imperialism has reached its peak and a ruthless competition. At the beginning of the 19th century explorers, missionaries and those who acted against the slavery and the slave trade, excused the claims of the European imperialists to civilization on the Black Continent. The Transvaal Question and the Boer War are the name of the struggle for domination between the white inhabitants of the Dutch origin and the British colonialists, called the Boers, at the southernmost tip of the Black Continent. In other words, coming to the region later the Boerler who settled in and made this place a homeland, was a struggle against the imperialist British. This bloody war between white people on the Black Sea was followed by different motives by the ruling, intellectual and military circles in the Ottoman state. All these circles have approached the subject according to the conjuncture, their pastures, their past, their world views and interests. Accordingly, the Young Turks in the idea of ??providing the support of Britain to the opposition movement against Abdu?lhamid II supported the British, which they described as the hero of liberty and democracy, while the supporters of the German anti-German supported the Boers.
